Blah, blah, yes I know the season is not over, I heard about it last night so we will call this a hypothetical question.

make no bones about it, Jason Garrett will be the next head coach of this team. Jerry will do his job and interview the "hot name", he will bring in the "up and riser" and then to make the NFL happy he will interview a minority although as he has in the past it will either be someone in house or by phone but he will do it and in the end he will hire Jason Garrett.

Hypothetically, When that happens do you think a offensive coordinator would be brought in?

Would HC and OC be to much for a first time Head Coach, esp one with as limited experience and Jason?

Not saying I support this decision. Very much against it but If start preparing now maybe I can get through the first two years.

It also could have it's advantages besides the possibility it could work. Maybe just maybe Jason can convince Jerry to start using some draft picks and high draft picks on offensive talent like WR and OL.

I would say no, that Garrett will be like Payton in New Orleans and call all the plays himself.

Kinda like Wade is HC/DC, I think Garrett will be HC/OC.

To be honest that scares the piss out of me, not so much the hiring of Garrett but the fact he would take on so much responsibility. I'm really hoping our next head coach would focus on just that, being a HC. Installing the basics, the fundamentals and the discipline while letting his coordinators do what they get paid to do.

No and there is no reason to.

Barber fumbled - his fault. No Garretts. Although he should not be starting.

Choice ALMOST made a big catch - his fault. Not Garrett.

Roy ALMOST had a TD down right sideline - Romo's fault. Not Garrett.

ALL the BIG PLAYS are there. Just not executing all of them. I believe that is coming. Cant blame Garrett for everything. Sometimes defenses get credit too.

Also, Romo and Garrett have a special relationship. Romo probably finishes career with Garrett.

Garrett is here to stay. Garrett will be HC. Garrett will be same as Payton as someone referred too early in thread.

Dont get me wrong, some of those plays were there. At the same time there were points in the game that the play calling left me scratching my head but that happens with any team at some point in the game.

I would not be worried about the play calling aspect of him being a HC, it's the "little things" that will go by the way side with him taking on so much responsibility.

You are right though and hit on 2 major reason why I say Garrett will be the enxt HC.

His relationship with Romo and Jerry's desire to right his wrongs and make up for letting Payton go. He see's the young coaches around the league and wants that energy.

Too early to worry about it...there's still 4 games to go

If the team flops and doesnt make the playoffs or is one and done in the postseason, I dont think its a lock that Garrett would be HC, even though I've been a supporter of him and think he gets far too much blame. Besides, if Romo continues to play well and finishes strong, Garrett might well get a HC job somewhere else.

You think when Dallas fires Wade Jerry would let Garrett go?

I think the minute Garrett gets a interview call Jerry starts to rush the process.

Jerry doesnt have to fire Wade, he has an option on his deal to extend. All he has to do is just do nothing.

Agreed. But its more than that I think Garrett is already qualified to be a HC(or is atleast earning a shot to be one). Dont get me wrong he needs to learn more but I believe he is a smart "football guy", who has real game playing experience and assistant experience... and that is what we need.

I don't think it is a given that Jason Garrett will be the Head Coach.

Personally, if Wade Phillips is let go after this season, I would like to see us get a proven Head Coach and let him bring in his own staff.

True, which makes me believe even more there is no chance in hell he lets Garrett leave.

There is no way to convince me that Garrett will not be the next HC of this team unless...............

ehh nm, it's not happening.:eek::

Jerry will interview that guy if he has time but I dont think he will really ever consider it.

Sure he'd consider it. You can bet on it.

Jerry hates losing, another non playoff season or a one and done playoffs isnt going to make him happy, and he knows filling that stadium will get harder and harder with a team that performs at a mediocre level.

Pretty confident this will be the way it plays out.

YES....Garrett will most certainly hire an offensive Co. I can even tell you his name.....Paul Chryst/Wisconsin Badgers. He and Garrett go wayyyyyyy back, in fact the Cowboys were set to hire Chryst under Garretts recomendation as QB coach when Garrett first got here. Problem was...Chryst turned Garrett and Jerry down because he didnt want to take the step down from being an offensive CO at Wisconsin to being QB coach in Dallas. He is our next O.C, Take it to the bank. He and Garrett have a longstanding close relationship that goes way back. Garrett will STILL call the plays but Chryst will draw up the gameplans much the same as it was when Mo Carthon was our OC under Parcells. Chryst is alot like Jason, both those guys have been around filmrooms since they were kneehigh to a grasshopper.

Yay. Change we can believe in.

Here is Chryst.......

Paul Chryst started his career as a graduate assistant at West Virginia (1989-90), and was then an assistant coach for the World League’s San Antonio Riders (1991-92), UW–Platteville (1993), Ottawa Rough Riders (1994), Illinois State (1995), Saskatchewan Roughriders (1996), and Oregon State (1997-98).
He was the tight ends coach for the NFL's San Diego Chargers from 1999-2001, where he was instrumental in the development of Freddie Jones into one of the NFL’s top tight ends, as well as coaching Steve Heiden, now a starter with the Cleveland Browns.
Chryst was offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Oregon State in 2003-04. The Beavers ranked 10th in total offense (463.0 ypg) and No. 6 nationally in passing yardage per game (328.1) in 2003. The 2003 Beavers became the first team in NCAA Division I history with a 4,000-yard passer, 1,500-yard rusher and two 1,000-yard receivers. Among the Oregon State stars he coached were RB Ken Simonton, the school’s career rushing leader, QB Derek Anderson, who left as the Pac 10’s No. 2 career passing leader, and RB Steven Jackson, a 2004 first-round draft choice for the St. Louis Rams.
After a one-year stint as the Badgers’ tight ends coach in 2002, Chryst returned to Wisconsin in 2005 and under his direction, the Wisconsin offense showed immediate and drastic improvement. The 2005 team set school records for both scoring average (34.3 ppg) and for points scored in a season (446). UW scored at least 40 points six times in 2005. After ending the 2005 season with a 10-3 record, the 2006 offense was again potent under Chryst, and helped the team to a strong 12-1 finish.

I still don't understand how Jerry J. hires an OC before a coach..

Doesn't the HC hire his own staff? Like I said numerous time this team can never win a game that it is important and put the other team far from the playoffs...

As I see from the sidelines you never see Jason and Wade communicate with each other and talking over the plays that the offence will run... It is like this team has 2 HC... 1 for the offence and one for Defense. If I was Wade I would take over the play calling for the offence, since Jason cannot do it in a consistent basis.. However that would never happen because JJ loves Garett.

In my opinion, Wase should just quit now and let JJ and his Garett run the team since JJ is paying the same salary to an OC as the HC... It is pathetic...
