Will Jason Garrett hire a OC?

Too many people bought into the Giants being a bad football team, when they aren't.

I still don't understand how Jerry J. hires an OC before a coach..

Doesn't the HC hire his own staff? Like I said numerous time this team can never win a game that it is important and put the other team far from the playoffs...

As I see from the sidelines you never see Jason and Wade communicate with each other and talking over the plays that the offence will run... It is like this team has 2 HC... 1 for the offence and one for Defense. If I was Wade I would take over the play calling for the offence, since Jason cannot do it in a consistent basis.. However that would never happen because JJ loves Garett.

In my opinion, Wase should just quit now and let JJ and his Garett run the team since JJ is paying the same salary to an OC as the HC... It is pathetic...

The GM hiring the Coordinators is something that has happened before in the NFL.

Personally, if Wade Phillips is not retained next year, I would like to see the new Head Coach have the right to bring in his own Coordinators and Assistants.

Paul Chryst keeps Cowboys waiting

Over at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, they're reporting there's a real tug of war going on over Wisconsin OC Paul Chryst. The Cowboys want him, and Wisconsin wants him too - and just offered him a new contract with a big raise.

In the last week the University of Wisconsin's offensive coordinator has interviewed with the Dallas Cowboys for a vacant position on their staff and received a multiyear contract offer to remain with the Badgers, who finished in the top 10 of both major polls last season. Yet according to sources, neither Dallas coach Wade Phillips nor UW coach Bret Bielema had learned of Chryst's plans as of Monday.

Now, there's word that Norv Turner might be getting into that mix. They worked together previously.
Chryst would be an ideal fit for Turner as his offensive coordinator or quarterbacks coach and, according to a source, Turner has already contacted Chryst.

:hammer:

This has been my contention since they went on the 4-5 game losing streak.

The Giants are a very dangerous team and just glancing at their schedule, I could see them winning 3 out of their 4 last games.

No. They are. They just got up for us. Watch them score a whopping 10 pts vs Eagles and lose 31-10.

Bottomline is Jerry playing fantasy GM with a real team and meddling in decisions that should belong to the HC has garnered less than stellar results to put it mildly.

Jason just might be a better HC than OC. How could he not be? LOL

of course he'd need to have an OC cause he's so far in over his head it's not funny.

I'd bet the farm Jason will be HC here next year, jerry is too stupid & frugal to do otherwise. chopping jason & his family would prove costly & tumultuous and be UNCOMFORTABLE to mr. worlds largest stadium.

Blah, blah, yes I know the season is not over, I heard about it last night so we will call this a hypothetical question.

make no bones about it, Jason Garrett will be the next head coach of this team. Jerry will do his job and interview the "hot name", he will bring in the "up and riser" and then to make the NFL happy he will interview a minority although as he has in the past it will either be someone in house or by phone but he will do it and in the end he will hire Jason Garrett.

Hypothetically, When that happens do you think a offensive coordinator would be brought in?

Would HC and OC be to much for a first time Head Coach, esp one with as limited experience and Jason?

Not saying I support this decision. Very much against it but If start preparing now maybe I can get through the first two years.

It also could have it's advantages besides the possibility it could work. Maybe just maybe Jason can convince Jerry to start using some draft picks and high draft picks on offensive talent like WR and OL.

What decisions has Jerry Jones made recently that cost us the football game yesterday?

IF you want to go that route then...What decisions has he made that won us the football game yesterday?

I think as long as Garrett has his offense ranked in the top 5 or so he will be the next man to lead this team.I would like for this team to be ranked a little higher in scoring(#12 currently) but being number #3 overall in the league offensively isn't bad.

I also think most of the offensive players buy into what Garrett is selling and they want to play for him(JMO).I know they have had some stinkers on offense, but they have shown flashes of brilliance at times.Schematically some of the play designs are brilliant while others are somewhat idiotic.I'm hopeful that I'd see more of the brilliant plays as Garrett gains in experience.

I'm of the opinion that I would rather see a young offensive mind take control of this team for better or worse than to see another retread.I think Parcells was a good coach in his day but the game has passed him by and he could no longer relate to the players.I think Wade is in the same boat,an older guy that can't relate to the current players on this roster.I don't know that a younger coach is the answer for this team, but I do know that Grandpa Wade is on life support and Great Uncle Bill has passed on.

I also think that Garrett would bring in a coordinator to help gameplan, but I think Garrett calls the plays on gameday.

If Garrett becomes the HC (and I'm feeling like he probably will) then I don't believe he'll hire an OC. I think he's very likely to call all the plays himself even as the HC.

Bigger question is who will be our DC? I just hope our defense doesn't completely go to the crapper because of a new coordinator.

I would look at someone from the Pittsburgh staff.Maybe one of the position coaches would like the oppurtunity to be a coordinator here.

Great, thanks for ruining my already horrible day.

Too early to worry about it...there's still 4 games to go

If the team flops and doesnt make the playoffs or is one and done in the postseason, I dont think its a lock that Garrett would be HC, even though I've been a supporter of him and think he gets far too much blame. Besides, if Romo continues to play well and finishes strong, Garrett might well get a HC job somewhere else.

i'm not sold on garrett getting the job either. while i agree it's execution it's also chemistry and how you put that team together. wades whole "life is good" after a loss is killing the team on "fear of failure". you fail wade comforts you and tells you it will be better, just try harder.

jimmy johnson would have thrown you off the plane screaming FALSE START THAT awesome person!

somewhere in between we've got to find someone who will be supportive in both there for the team, and there for the franchise and put the "fear of failure" back into the team.

I would say no, that Garrett will be like Payton in New Orleans and call all the plays himself.

Kinda like Wade is HC/DC, I think Garrett will be HC/OC.

Yep. Why would an offensive genius give the playcalling duties to someone else?

Really? You think points mean more than yards?

Craig

Jerry should hire one of their position coach and throw huge money at Dick LaBeau to be a consultant for one year to groom the guy. Yeh I know..wishful thinking.
