Will Lawrence be next?

Finally... Super glad #9 is gone, one step closer to bringing back the band in free agency next year, the guys who got us there, after we win the super bowl.

Now we need to get rid of #90 asap. The last of the "hot boyz"... underachieving, massively overpaid and arrogant. Great players get stats... mediocre tier players get pressures and PFF praise but don't make big splash plays. If we get rid of 90 we will have plenty of space to easily bring back Gallup+Williams+Gregory+Schultz+Hooker+Neal+Kazee+Kearse and maybe LVE if we want.

Does he need to clear a physical (i.e., be cleared from the broken foot) before he can be waived/traded?

I can't wait....

Who is next is going to go off the charts for the next several months sadly.

I have hope for Lawrence but I also hope this shows him that no one is uncutable. His contract is done with guaranteed money and is very cuttable this off season (especially with a June 1 designation). Hoping this lights a fire under him.

Cap hit next year is 27M, 2023 cap is 29. If a June 1 cut, 2022 dead money is 8M, 2023 dead money is 11M. Saving 19M next year is a huge savings.

He might not get cut but something is going to happen this off season with his contract. If he shows up it gets extended if he underperforms he gets cut.

I'm fine with getting rid of Lawrence, but I don't think it makes the team better. At least I know DLaw loves football. Can't say that with Jaylon.

I'm just of the mind set that you don't pay 20+ million for "run stopping" DE's.

All I can say is this is crazy talk. Lawrence might be slightly over paid but people that read stat lines and make roster decisions off that are a bit inexperienced or wacky.

You read Jaylon Smiths stat line you'd think he was a good players. Lots of tackles. Problem is a lot of those tackles were 8, 10, 12 yards down the field when he should be making stops at or near the LOS.

DLaw causes tons of offensive adjustments, draws double teams, causes negative plays be the offense every game. Offenses try to avoid LDE when he's in there.

I'd be willing to bet OC's designed plays that would try to take advantage of Smith's lack of acceleration/mobility.

I would forget making him a June cut and instead make sure we have all the money we can now to bring back Gallup, Gregory, Kearse, Schultz, Williams, Hooker, Neal, Kazee, C. Wilson, and maybe LVE... probably in that order.

Demarcus Lawrence is a good football player. I don't understand why people just look strictly at the sack numbers. The guy has literally btw had no-one to rush the passer opposite of him in recent years (other than Gregory whom is suspended half the time). He is a quality player I can't wait to see back with parsons and co.

that's the point, Micah and Diggs are already outperforming Lawrence, yeah I get it it's a different position... but they're making plays. Arguably Gregory and Odighizuwa, too, are better than Lawrence right now.

You don't pay 20+ million for a guy who was a sack monster in 2017 and 2018 and got lazy at rushing the passer ever since.
