Will McClay?

--Paea was a Marinelli guy.
The FA philosophy oversight is limited by funds.

Can't blame Mckay. He's been given peanuts and told to buy Porches and Ferraris with it.

I'm also sure the FO has alot to do with it as well. They always say "we like what we have".

Ultimately the results on the field will measure the success of McClay, Coach G and Jethro Jone$ and Son.

We see some overall better drafts and personnel decisions but still enough questionable ones that have contributed to lesser results thus far.

The Times are changing. Garrett on the way out. Mcclay and Stephen taking over. Missing ingredient to success is a good hc.

Whoever gives inputs for veteran FA from other teams needs to get fired ASAP we have been terrible at identifying outside talent to bring to help bolster the team...

Even a random gem like Irving has been shot down due to years of terrible performance from FA

I honestly don’t think JG is nearly as bad as most think and I don’t hate Dak but both are admittedly questionable at best and the others suck.
Well he ran romos prime years through the dirt.... here we are looking to hope to make the playoffs this year

I am not going to defend the guy or crucify him but when you are only allowed to shop in the Boone Farm section of the wine store hard to find a fine wine.

Ok I was just kidding. Honestly he's probably above average (like a 7.5 outta 10)

First it's pretty easy to pick decent linemen in the first round. You can google it and you'll find articles that show that statistically most first round linemen end up as starters at a higher rate than other positions.

After the first rd is where I think we have issues. Guys like tapper haven't contributed, Switzer was traded and then traded again, Chaz shouldn't be in the league

In 2015 we took Byron (when we should have take Landon Collins). Randy Gregory who looks to be a contributor this year but offered nothing prior. Damien Wilson -well I guess he's functional. Chaz and Ryan Russell

I gotta hit the gym but I'll be back to talk about the 16 and 17 draft

Once again I believe he's decent, but there's been a lot of misses in the draft and free agency as well.

Oh and yes, I know that most drafts aren't going to net starters across the board and no team has a perfect draft.

I don't understand how people conveniently skip over posts about how little he's had to work with. 2019 will be his first year with this amount of influence and cap space and we'll probably end up with Earl Thomas. He's had so little cap room and has been about 50/50 on guys contributing or not; that's about all you can ask for when you only have money to go dumpster diving.

We are a top 10 talented team without a WR in the top 30. It's impressive the frequency of hitting on players. Especially late rd players which plenty of ours have contributed.

Jaylon and Gregory should show out this season making those 2nd rd picks look good. Anyway saying Will McClay is a problem is not remembering the years before McClay clearly.

If we sign bottom of the barrel guys, the probability of those guys contributing anything significant is small.

Will McClay has been a blessing in the draft, especially if compared to the drafts we had before he arrived. I'm sure he'd be better in vet FA if Stephen allowed that to happen. Whether that situation is mainly because of previous cap issues or not is questionable. Anyhow, relying heavily upon the draft to overcome overall talent and backup issues is always a long and arduous process that requires the patience of a saint. Unfortunately, saints are rare in these persistently trying times. Success is outrageously difficult when the talent pool is being divided amongst 32 talent-hungry teams. ;)

Where There's A Will, There's A McClay....sorry had to go there lol. Anyway, with McClay being in charge of pro personnel for over half a decade and following a public embarrassment of the '13 first round pick which the 'Boys lucked into perennial Pro Bowler Travis Frederick, he took over the draft responsibilities which was a blessing for our 'Boys.

The results have been pretty spectacular with Zack Martin, DeMarcus Lawrence and Anthony Hitches in '14 and Byron Jones, Randy Gregory and Damien Wilson in '15. Now, if our HC would be just as good, we'd see a Post Season Win!:muttley:

Will McClay does all the good things for the team and The Jones’/coaches make all the bad moves....that’s how it seems to work for most fans.

But, yes, the pro personnel side of things has been pretty horrible. Even on evaluating our own players.
