Will McClay's Input

No. Garrett has more control in McClay's department than vice versa. Remember Judd Garrett is a Director in McClay's pro personnel department.

Coaching is like a fraternity. If you have not been in the fraternity, you are not going to get on the Head Coach's coaching staff.

Garrett blocked Art Briles from joining the Cowboys as a Consultant. Briles was not in his fraternity. So Garrett get's what he wants on the Coaching staff. Jerry may dictate that changes should be made. But he loves Garrett and will 9 out of 10 times give him what he wants.
LOL. Garrett didn't even know who was going to be on his coaching staff last Monday until Jerry told him.

I wonder if Mr. Mc Clay has any input about the coaching situation especially Moore and Kitna.

The question is whether the front office has any football philosophy of its own, or do they rely on the HC to bring it. If they have their own, their opinions will count on staffing.

No offense to the OP, but this question really points to how truly out of touch fans on this board are about how this organization is run.

I don't know where they heard that WIll McClay was in charge, but it is wrong, wrong and terribly wrong.

I guess it is a vestigial train of thought from way back when. There was a time on this very board, that some very prominent posters believed that Jerry Jones was just a figurehead and that the real mover and shaker was Tom Ciskowski.

Yep. True story.

It's really not that confusing. Years ago, like late 90's-very early aughts, they tried to pretend Jerry was a good GM. Once nobody could possibly sell that anymore, they've been pretending Jerry really isn't charge. It's Tom, no Stephen, no Will. Whoever they can cling to as a reason why the future will be different.

Sometimes in an emergency they use their system restore of GMs don't matter. That's my favorite.

A real self portrait of the team is too rough for them. So they paint a picture that is more appealing to their fan sensitivities and live in that world.

Taco isn’t what we expected and some of it is on him. The don’t think the staff believes he is pushing himself. Was benched because of his attitude. Maybe if he matures we will see a change this year. He is young and handed 6 million dollars at 22 years old.
Taco is pretty much exactly what I expected. Didnt expect the attitude problem. But the slow, stoned, getting pushed around thing is what I thought he would do.

Strange because he is a big boy. I expected slightly more push.

Then there is Irving, if he came in and played like he should have then our Defense would have been so much better.

I think all of the coaches and FO have some input as Booger has always had a circle of influence. He comes off as this maverick like Crazy Al but he's always had a group that he seeks advice from and why not someone he's paying a lot of money to for his opinions?

I would imagine there's been a lot of discussion about the OC position, just didn't seem to be while the season was still underway.

Taco is very very slow off the ball. And take a look at his legs. They look like a 16 year old girls legs. look at the calves. Not an aggressive type personality either. NO high motor. Just kinda tall and long arms.

I think Taco is better off staying here actually. If we cut him someone will likely turn the kid around. Lets let him play out the rookie deal before we cast him asunder.

Now it is spun that he was out because of injury instead of attitude. If it was attitude they need to stick with that and not revise history.

We aren't getting much in trade out of him at this point. His game should be strength rather than speed. If he's not playing significantly better after two off seasons in the weight room, his future improvement is doubtful.
