Ticket prices force out the blue collar fans and it becomes more of a social event for the Dallasites.

Hopefully moving to Arlington will draw a better crowd. Even though the ticket prices are going up.

Joe Fan. LOL..............

Joe Fan held a press conference after the Cowboys announced Wade Phillips was the new head coach, where he stated:
I can't wait to see our new fanbase unleashed under Wade. I remember back in 2004, it was causing false starts and taking over games. Then, something changed - I think Parcells ruined it. Parcells' archaic approach to fan-participation may have worked when he had Bill Bellichick with him, but doggedly sticking to it despite successive december fades in decibel-level showed that he was out of his league.

cheering like robots FTW. :laugh2:

Come to think of it the games I went to under Parcells my cheering was a bit robotic. :lmao2:

Were any of ya'll at the Colts game? I have been to many games, and most of the time the fans are on the quiet side. However, at the Colts game...man o man, that was playoff atmosphere. The crowd was deafening, and into it the whole game. Also, no one started the wave...which was a good thing

I doubt it.

Dallas/Ft. Worth is not a blue collar town and alot of the folks that can afford to attend games on a regular basis are transplants and thus, have their own teams they cheer and root for. This in itself, creates the "The go to Dallas area games to be seen wine and caviar" or as Randy Galloway likes to call it "The North Dallas Beautiful People" atmosphere that is so common at venues such as Lakers Games, another city that is full of transplants.

In a Cowboys book I read (and actually got to discuss some of it when I met Renfro) a while ago called "Cowboys have always been my herores", Mel Renfro talked about how he hated leaving the Cotton Bowl and going to Texas Stadium because of the rowdy, working class fans at the Cotton Bowl couldnt afford to go there and the "new" crowd wasn't as rowdy.

See Dallas Mavericks fans for an even better example of this sports phenomenon.

Weren't they accused at one point of making artificial crowd noise?

Strangely enough, I'm okay with that. I must have had some head trauma that I blocked out of my memory.

I think he was talking about the Boys-Colts game in Dallas this past season

… Coach Parcells my first year as a fan, the fans kind of cheered how they wanted to do, second year and last year he kind of directed us too much, … . You know, you can’t really mess with the fans out there. You can tell them to show up and to be loud … … He had us cheering like robots. No disrespect to coach Parcells but, you can’t really tell the fans when to yell, or how loud to be, or they're gonna be out there sounding like robots. He didn't want us too loud, because of his fragile eardrums. So that’s what we were doing last year.

That is absolutely ridiculous to me IMO.... if I am not being paid by an employer or under threat of death or arrest, nobody is going to tell me what to do when I am a paying customer or patron, especially at a football game. Freak his fragile eardrums frankly, even though I liked BP when he was here. Scream as loud as you want Cowboys fans. Drink hot tea later.

This is true. At the Cotton Bowl, end zone tickets were $6 and there was free parking nearby (or, a city bus ride was about a quarter each way) and lots of other things to do. At Texas Stadium the parking was $6 and a mile away (or a round trip bus fare of $20) and there was a 600% increase in prices and you had to buy a long term low interest bond in order to pay the higher prices, plus there was nothing else in the area to do. All this at a time when the average wage was $500/month.

I was faced with a decision to save for my future or sacrifice it and go to the games. I made the financially sound decision to save for my retirement instead of the financially unsound decision to blow it all on the games. I am now enjoying my retirement and I don't regret my decision one bit.

Funny, the sore throats went away and did not return.

To each his own. I really respect those who can truly afford to go to the games and feel sorry for those who can't but go anyway. Fortunately, I no longer have any desire to go to the games - still dig chicks, though. Yeah, I'm an old square, (When's the last time you've heard that expression?) but I like my lifestyle.

With how much money and technology that goes into the design of new stadiums, I always wondered why they didn't put more effort into good accoustics. You would think it would be possible to design a stadium that's really loud, but it seems like nobody knows until they actually start playing games there.

Who's the Zone architect? I professional opinion about designing a stadium for noise would be appreciated.

I know... personally I was shocked when I found that quote. What a whiner. This fan in particular better prove to us that he can be the fan we thought we were getting three years ago. He's got no excuses now with the Tuna gone. Personally I think he's done and he's going to be replaced by Joe Backup. That or we'll go shopping for a new fan come next April.

thing is , its gonna be a much bigger stadium. 90.000 fans..but also consider that when Pittsburgh or Commanders come to visit, there will be more of their fanz.

If you notice, our fans started out pretty loud but then tailed off badly at the end of the season. Not sure if it was the vanilla yelling schemes, too-tough yelling camp that tired everyone out, or if fans had injured vocal cords but were too scared to give up their seats to healthier fans.

Anyway, I thought I heard Mickey say on a Talkin' Cowboys that the new stadium *was* going to be more similar to Seattle's. I thought he talked about it being a more "vertical" arrangement than Texas Stadium, with Texas Stadium being the way it was due to the architectural trends of the day. I think having the fans more on top of the field will make it louder... As should 20,000 more people.

Yes! I heard the supermarkets by the stadium are planning on envieling the "new" versions of Cowboys' fans.....Imma buy me two!
