Will the Cowboys be able to overcome their own recent history?

IMO it’s way too early to know what this team is going to be in 2022. The draft is 3 weeks away. Training camp is 3 months away. The off-season is just getting started. The regular season starts in five months.

But here is something we do know that is fairly clear: Recent Cowboys history. And the last quarter century has had some very bad trends that cannot be called “bad luck”

• The Cowboys haven’t had back to back playoff seasons in 15 years. (06 and 07 was the last)
• The Cowboys haven’t won the division back to back since 1994-95. Let that sink in.
• The Cowboys haven’t had back to back double digit winning seasons since 1995 and 1996. Ouch. So it’s been 27 seasons since a 10+ win season was followed up with another 10+ wins.
• The last 6 seasons the Cowboys made the playoffs, they did not make the playoffs the following season.

So my fellow fans, to me the biggest questions hanging over this team right now are, can they overcome their quarter century plus habits of following a good season with a dud? Is this organization truly capable of a sustained run to even be in the playoffs, much less win in the playoffs?

The players in turn figure that just showing up is good enough.

But somehow, some HC eventually is going to have to get through to these players that they aren't actually stars just because they play for the Cowboys.

For one I don’t think the media will not be hyped up this coming season. This team has not gotten better from last season. Also, the NFC East refuses to allow a front runner as it’s been since 2005 since any team has won back to back division titles (Andy Reid era).

The culture here is broken and for some reason makes us not play well in big games. We’ve seen it through multiple coaches now and it’s still the same. It’s a wait and see approach as always.

MM brought in Ben McAdoo to help Moore with his play-calling last season. This season, McCarthy is bringing in his former mentor’s son, Brian Schottenheimer, to assume the same role they lost when McAdoo left.

Many fans continue giving Moore a free pass eve though he's been exposed several times last season. IMO, if he continues with his hideous play-calling & not using the talent this franchise has to the fullest, it's time to look for a new OC.

Dallas will start planning for its next franchise QB the following year.

Our horrific drafting in the 2nd round and kneejerk trades are once again coming back to haunt us.

To me, it's now become clear why the kneejerk Cooper trade was a bad trade. The player we should've been drafting there should be a big cog in our machine. Good news! With 17 games instead of 16 there's a 6.25% better chance of getting to 10 wins.

Injuries and schedule typically have something to do with it. We have the harder schedule this year theoretically, but I dont think its actually that hard. Last year was very easy.

With the defense this team will compete nearly every week if we can stay healthy.

Yah, overall the Cooper trade was a mistake. Especially considering the drafting of Lamb, it was a big mistake. IF we take ANOTHER WR in the first round this year it would be almost akin to how mad it was for the Lions taking 3 WR's in 3 or 4 years or whatever it was in the first round.

Probably not. But being in worst division certainly helps our chances .

I think a good discussion will be how much has our divisional foes helped themselves . Egirls have 3 1st round picks . Skins have a new QB.

How much will they be improved from last year could weigh in on our chances of winning division again and or reaching 10 wins.
