Will the Cowboys be able to overcome their own recent history?

If the Cowboys go 10-7, for that back to back 10 win seasons, and if that qualifies them for the playoffs, for that back to back seasons.
And wait...if they win the division for that back to back seasons.

How many on here will discount it, because that last win may come in the 17th game. And claim if not for that, it doesn't count.
But, what if it happens in the 16th game?

:lmao::lmao2: Couldn't resist asking, as you know that would come up.

That is some pretty depressing stats.
10 years were wasted with Garrett, and those stats are not helped, when every other year there are major injuries across the board. Especially Romo was often injured.

That is no excuse however.
Now remove about 5, years of that, because did anyone really believe the team was not going to have some down years after the triplets was all gone, and the coaching staff that helped them get to the playoffs.

Still not an excuse.

Still pretty depressing stats, and all one thing in common...the FO...
And Rowdy.

Probably not. But being in worst division certainly helps our chances .

I think a good discussion will be how much has our divisional foes helped themselves . Egirls have 3 1st round picks . Skins have a new QB.

How much will they be improved from last year could weigh in on our chances of winning division again and or reaching 10 wins.

Eagles made a trade with the Saints. They only have 2 first round picks this year, but now have 2 next year as well.

Hard to say but I know I would feel a lot better if we totally fixed something before we went into the draft . Just pick something Oline , WR , DT , LB , just take a stab , make a legitimate effort .

Expecting to FIX IT ALL IN THE DRAFT for a ham sandwich is a bridge too far IMO.

It's freaking sad when we consider now that a good Dallas season is "winning" the weak NFCE and a first round exit at home. How times have changed. And i don't expect much from them this season. I think we have seen this team reach its potential and its not even close to the other playoff teams from this past season. Not much joy in Mudville.

IMO it’s way too early to know what this team is going to be in 2022. The draft is 3 weeks away. Training camp is 3 months away. The off-season is just getting started. The regular season starts in five months.

But here is something we do know that is fairly clear: Recent Cowboys history. And the last quarter century has had some very bad trends that cannot be called “bad luck”
  • The Cowboys haven’t had back to back playoff seasons in 15 years. (06 and 07 was the last)
  • The Cowboys haven’t won the division back to back since 1994-95. Let that sink in.
  • The Cowboys haven’t had back to back double digit winning seasons since 1995 and 1996. Ouch. So it’s been 27 seasons since a 10+ win season was followed up with another 10+ wins.
  • The last 6 seasons the Cowboys made the playoffs, they did not make the playoffs the following season.
So my fellow fans, to me the biggest questions hanging over this team right now are, can they overcome their quarter century plus habits of following a good season with a dud? Is this organization truly capable of a sustained run to even be in the playoffs, much less win in the playoffs?
Nope, the one constant the last 27 years ???
The common denominator :
GM Jerry Jones.
Until he steps down and hires a true professional GM we are stuck in a very long rut.

Who is the GM and Who is the Head Coach?:huh:I know what your going to say to me...

I think we will look at the last decade as a lost opportunity because the NFCE has been so weak. We haven’t taken full advantage of that.

I think they will make the playoffs in back to back's but not win the division because the NFC is weak. I think PHL wins it because they play better as a team than DAL does.

I think two teams go from the East, DAL and PHL, West, LA and SF and North, GB and MIN and one from the South, TB.

And when your front office decision makers’ jobs are not on the line, they can waste whole seasons and not think a second about it because there’s always next year.

Sorry, but I'm no longer a believer. They will now have to prove they can be successful. Not just by having a bunch of yardage on offense, but by having a successful playoff run. Otherwise, same old stuff

All true brother and this is frustrating and makes it difficult to try and be optimistic past just making the playoffs and even that at this point could be a stretch if some things don't start to fall into place
