Are you implying that won't happen? Or it hasn't happened in the past? I'm sure you have a point.Still need the players to execute the plays.

Yes, it will be different and so will the offense as well as special teams. Texas Toast Offense is officially toast. And good riddance. When you promote an in-house assistant to HC you want to keep continuity and don't force your players to learn a brand new scheme. Terminology is going to be the same, but will the scheme really change under Schott? We have heard that he wanted to tweak MM's system to add more modern concepts, but that never happened.
What we do know:
-Schott will be the primary play caller this season
-Has brought in young, coaches that he has no prior affliction with.
-Our new OC, is a former OL and TE assistant coach, which suggests a strong run background.
-They brought in several college coaches from different backgrounds
-I was around for the Schott's years with the Jets; ground and pound. Elite rushing team. Had limitations at QB.
-Heard his Seattle stop, he wanted to have Wilson throw more, but Carroll wanted a more conservative run 1st offense.
Two drastic differences, which tells me he will devise his scheme around his players strengths, not his scheme.
Still very earlyI'm just surprised players haven't mentioned trying to wrap their heads around a new playbook. Or coaches mentioning it.
MM is just as good as Sean Payton where the media drools over, they both have similar overall recordsI was an MM fan for a while. But in hindsight, what he did to Kellen Moore was sorry.
Plus, he has a record for most player off losses. Just isn't a good player offs coach.
That is the fear, very possible nothing changesThe entire reason for hiring Schotty is that it won't.
They needed to fix their defense! In 2023 Philly had two top tier wide receivers and a very good offensive line. They were eliminated in the wild card round. They needed to improve their run game if they were going to have a legitimate shot at returning to and winning a Super Bowl. They signed a great running back. It worked out well.
The Cowboys now have two tier wide receivers. It’s a start. They do not have a very good offensive line. They do not have a great running back. It is not going to work out well.
That’s the hope, but I have my doubtsI expect the Cowboys to run an offense similar to the Rams. Obviously Dak does not have the arm of Stafford so they will have west coast concepts. As much as it appeared this would be a running offense with the coaching hires, the best ability of Williams/Blue is their pass catching. The Cowboys best skill players are CeeDee/Pickens/Turpin. Dak makes 60 million a season. Jerry wants Dak to be among the best quarterbacks statistically so the contract can be justified. The Cowboys will be like the 2020 season before Dak’s injury offensively. Expect high scoring games and a television friendly team.
The hope is the Cowboys will score lots of points so the defense can unleash the pass rush and force turnovers. Sadly the run problem will continue to be the weakness defensively.
It isn’t just the coaching, players need to due their partAre you implying that won't happen? Or it hasn't happened in the past? I'm sure you have a point.
There were definitely noticeable differences as the season wore onI fully expect changes on offense to be pretty minimal. I think people overly downplay the involvement Shottenheimer had on this offense. He was very much involved and the biggest things IMO is simply predictability. They ran a ton of motion last year....just not well. They love to run out of the offset I...to the weak side 90% of the time. Offset Y? Just follow him to the football 90% of the time.
They fired their defensive coordinator, signed an inexpensive free agent linebacker and drafted a couple of defensive backs. I believe they had a sense the talent was already there. It still is.They needed to fix their defense!
Shotty had very little to do with the MM offense. Otherwise it wouldn’t have been the WCO focusing on the passing game and just giving lip service to the running game. Scotty’s philosophy is totally different.I fully expect changes on offense to be pretty minimal. I think people overly downplay the involvement Shottenheimer had on this offense. He has never been a head coach of an NFL team for even a single NFL game, pre-season or otherwise. He has yet to put together a 53 player NFL roster or name a 48 player game day roster. He has never created a game plan as a head coach for any NFL opponent. And fans here are convinced they already understand his “scheme”.Shotty had very little to do with the MM offense. Everyone knows what his philosophy is because he’s told us.He has never been a head coach of an NFL team for even a single NFL game, pre-season or otherwise. If he was willing to be an OC in title only should indicate all you need to know about him. You have no clue what “Schotty’s philosophy” is and I’d wager no one else associated with the Dallas Cowboys organization does, either.
Jerry knew no highly regarded NFL head coach candidate would ever agree to work for him so he gave the job to a guy no other team ever did.
Not saying it will work. It’s about box office. Unfortunately the billion they make a year off of merchandise is what the Joneses are really worried about. Barring injuries expect big season from the offense and big sack totals from Micah. We won’t beat the physical teams when it counts though. That’s the hope, but I have my doubts
I am skeptical for the reasons you mention. But then again, I'm not sure it has to change much. Run more, have the QB under center more, maybe more motion...right there, you give the defense more to worry about. Whether it's a little or a lot, the key thing really is how the young OL develops and gels. When you promote an in-house assistant to HC you want to keep continuity and don't force your players to learn a brand new scheme. Yeah honestly I loved the offense they ran later in the season. It had some flaws, but that was mostly issues with predictable tendencies, motion working against them, etc....all things that should be correctable. WIth what should be a more talented offense this year I think they can have a ton of success by continuing down the road of a run first approach with heavy formations. There were definitely noticeable differences as the season wore on
