Will these guys ever learn?

Now that we’re out of the playoffs for the second year in a row and for the 16th time this century, many wise fans on this forum have some good notions about how to get better or who to hire.

But sadly, we all know the guys leading this thing don’t learn. Some would argue they do but not until it’s so blatantly obvious, even a kid would see it’s time for changes. But leaders can’t learn if they aren’t open to the idea that their time is up. Their day has passed. And they are so arrogant, they won’t learn the most obvious of lessons.

Why do I say they never learn? Look at the huge lessons that have been presented in the 26 seasons that make up this century so far:
  • Not making the playoffs in 16 of the 26 seasons this century. (2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2010,2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2024, 2025)
  • Our biggest rival - the hated egirls - have made the playoffs 8 more times this century than we have; they have won 20 playoff games (4 for us), won 3 NFC championships and 2 SBs. Instead of learning from the success our rivals, JJ and SJ smugly act as if they know better, foregoing serious FA and making stupid cap moves.
  • Jerry refuses to hire a great HC. Since Jimmy left, we’ve had one great HC and one decent one. Parcells was great but was near burnout. And JJ admitted hiring him only to get the stayjum passed. Big Mac was pretty good but also probably near the end. Gailey, Campo, Wade, Garrett and now Schotty? Those are not the hires of an organization driven to win a Lombardi.
  • The winning owners of the last 30 SBs all hired someone else to be their GM. Jerry is now at 83 the oldest GM in NFL history, and get this - hasn’t won a divisional playoff game since he was 53!
If your owner refuses to learn from all the above, he will never learn. Fans are sick of losing and underachieving. We want real change. But losing isn’t enough for Jerry Jones to see HE is the real and present problem that will not go away.

Since our owner won’t learn or change from losing over decades…There is only ONE lesson our owner and son will learn from:
LOSING MONEY.

Yes, fans have to stop supporting Jerry with their money. We've known that for years. But the problem is Dallas has way too many stupid, idiotic fans. Hence the reason Jerry is convinced his way works, even with 30 years of evidence that it doesn't.

And sometimes I think some of our fans are unaware of how bad we’ve been lapped by our hated rival.

The egirls compared to us this century:
  • Eagles have made the playoff 18 times to our 10.
  • Eagles have 20 playoff wins to our 4.
  • Eagles have won 3 NFC championships and 2 SBs to our zero.
  • Eagles have one of the best GMs in the NFL who understands how to manage the cap. We have Stephen Jones.
If the above doesn’t make our owner change, only hurting his wallet will.

Making the playoffs is not a measure of success. The only thing that matters is if you won the super bowl.

This is it Bob... until Jerry hires a real HC and let's them do their job, we're all just hoping we win in spite of Jerry. Everything else is a waste of time.

Here's the rub. If fans don't buy tickets to watch games at Jerry World, it fills up with those of the opponents. I live on the East Coast, and am guilty of buying fan gear.

What I see when watching the games are a lot of Iggles fans, cheese heads etc. in the stands. I don't know how to hurt Jerry in the pocketbook.

Fans know this, the problem is the Cowboys moved past being a normal sports franchise years ago, normal NFL fans do not go to Cowboys games as Cowboys fans its an event and the other teams fans... if we took everything and made it equal but put the game in Green Bay in December in the ice... how many of the "fans" at the last game would show up?

It is hard to hurt the Jones’ bulletproof monetary system the way it’s set up as far as season ticket holders. Having a drop in that would get their attention, but they have those fans by the stones with the seat license thing.

I do think fans not buying gear helps. And I also think having half the stadium filled with opponents fans embarrasses JJ although he will never admit it.

Us normal fans can’t hurt Jerry’s bank account much. We can bark and moan about boycotting or whatever but that financial damage is minimal. Most of his money comes from TV and streaming contracts and national media rights where the revenue is shared between teams. We can watch, not watch, stop buying gear and tickets but Jerry will still rake it in. We are currently at the point where the emperor has no clothes stage.

Not sure there's an answer aside from Jerry's demise.

We all talked about Jerry being embarrassed/chastised/called out publicly would help. Well, we were wrong, it hasn't. As soon as we think it might change, we take another Schooner or Mazi, showing clearly that whomever is in charge is a very poor judge of talent.

We all know what needs to be done in the offseason. Push salary down the road and draft and sign D. If we don't get at least 2 LBs and a S upgrade, then we know nothing has changed.

Once people realize we will never win anything with Jerry or Stephen in charge...

Unless Jerry plans on "taking out(jokingly)" every quarterback before each playoff game then we might have a chance to win! But hey we make backup and jag QBs look like prime Brady alot

This is very valid. I'm not sure it's possible to put much of a ding in JJ's wallet, I think he has skillfully set up the system in his favor and Roger Baddell bought into his plans. I'm afraid it'll take many, many losing seasons to break the cycle of fans just buying into this.

Just look at Detroit. Disaster of a team from ownership to coaching. Had tons of talent due to draft picks and what many "exports" always considered an above/elite QB in Stafford who was wasting his career away. Things changed for them once the ownership changed hands in the family. I believe the owner passed away? Regardless they brought in Campbell for a huge culture change, had talented players, then did some great moves.

Great take Bob.... Just my humble opinion, I think as long as there's butts in the seats, Jerry gets his money. I don't think he gives 2 poops if that money is from a Cowboys fan or an opossing fan....
