Will we be dead last in defense this season?

It’s all true. We won 7 games with really nothing. Should have swept Wash as well. Health in the NFL is the name of the game. SF wasn’t healthy and neither were we. Detroit looked like the SB favorite for about 15 weeks and then the D injuries all caught up to them in the end.

Dak can win games. We need rookie Dak back. Play action, and rely on the running game. He’s not capable if it’s all on his shoulders unfortunately…..
when the starters were playing we sucked. or did you forget the Lions, Baltimore and Saints games?

we beat up on Panthers, Giants (twice), Browns. the bottom three teams.

When healthy we have two of the top Corners in football, along with arguably the best pass rusher in football. Add in a bright young superstar Overshown (when healthy). We just added Dono EZ, who led CFB in sacks, and a top corner. Not to mention two DT’s.

Health is always a concern, but if healthy it’s not bad at all.
It's very small unless you are banking on the late rounders?

Last year we were the 2nd worst defense in the league. We just spent our only premium pick on offense when there were a number of good DTs available. The board is clamoring to spend the rest of the picks....on offense. Jerry spent bottom dollar on a bunch of FA rejects.

Is no one else concerned by the thought of having to watch our defense get abused week after week after week?
all draft season long I was thinking the same thing. our d-line running on fumes. our LBs weak. I wanted to build around Micah...keep Rico, get a vet WR and lets go.

That said I'm not hating the first few picks at all...just wish we would have kept Rico as a high floor starter and then go from there.

I'm surprised we got a light LB

It's a possibility considering Mazi as a continued starter at the first level and the uncertainty with all the corners' health and likelihood of possible injuries at that position again at the 3rd level
But maybe Flus can do his linebacker whisperer thing in the middle on the second level but that wouldn't be enough to save it.
I say it's a coin toss.
I'm "hoping" actually a final ranking in the 20s somewhere and praying it's not another Nolan Part 2 disaster version.

Fingers crossed.

I believe the D can be a top 15 unit, however, until we have at least a CFL level receiving corp,I can see a lot of 3 and outs that puts that D back on the field all day. Add an NFL receiver and our D will be top 15.
no way we are going to be a top 15 team on defense. even if the offense plays well, this defense is a mismatch of players. new scheme. players coming off major injuries.

There were a lot of injuries last year, and the defense showed improvement over the course of the season. I'll beleive we actually have a good defense when I see it.....but, there's no way we'll be the worst defense in the league.

History would suggest adding a couple of very late rounders at DT is not going to move the needle much.

Well I'd say you're not alone, many of us long for the good ole days when the cowboys had an elite defense,,, and now we'd just settle for a playoff quality defense. I don't mind the OG pick or the Edge pick, they are good players, but really they should have got a DT with an early pick.

Overshown, Diggs and Revel arent starting at the beginning of the season.

It will be more like:
LB: Clark, Liufau/Sanborn, Murray
CB: Elam, Bland, Mukuamu

Not to mention we will have Mazi starting being backed up by a rookie and second yr 7th rounders.
By the playoffs

None of the DTs were worth the 12th pick. I’m tired of reaching for DTs.
