Fasano may end up being a great pick.

Remember he was drafted because we were going to employ that Max protect 2 TE offense because of Bledsoes immobility. That's what he worked on all during camp. When Bledsoe hit the bench we changed the iffensive game plan a bit and he had to adjust. All in all I think he did fine and I didn't see him as a liability at all.
As a Cowboy fan...I would love for him to turn out to be a great pick...but he is not "great" at anything to become one. Average speed...average hands.....average blocker. What do you see in him that leads you to believe we've got something that a 5th rounder could not give us.

Are you saying that "Steven Jackson was not going to be the pick"...was a good thing. If so, do you know why they were not sold on him?

His blocking and explosiveness werent as good as Kevin at the time. Since then Jackson has improved both aspects of his game. Kevin was also considered a better pass catcher out of the backfield.

I am not saying I thought it was a good thing...I wanted Jackson as well...the majority of the people wanted jackson, the majority never thought he would fall and when he did the chat room was going crazy thinking we were going to get him.

But...word is, and from someone who was at Valley Ranch the day of the draft, Bill said he did not like dealing with the Postons (Jacksons agent at the time) and it was also heard ...Get K Jones agent on the line right before our pick came up.

Believe it or not...that is your choice...the person I heard it from WAS there and I trust his word.

wow...simply wow....and I have heard bad things about the Postons as well...I guess that helps clarify who was willing running the draft room. I personally like Kevin Jones...in spite of his numbers. I will also admit I wanted Kevin Jones over Stephen Jackson...and I also think Kevin Jones would fare better in a different uniform

Ugh, yeah, I forgive him. Since he found Jason Witten in the 3rd round and all. And found Marion Barber in the 4th. And found an undrafted free agent as our QB of the future.

If you ever want to see bad drafting....

One other thing I remember someone saying...and I can not remember who or if it was someone that had access to bill...so take it with a grain of salt.

But if memory serves I think it was said that bill did not like Jacksons Up right running motion and was afraid he would not last long because of it.

the 2nd round pick he just spent on Fasano? Nothing against Fasano...but as many of you know...I start a thread about this pick once a week. Just a head scratcher

And why did we use a 2nd round pick on an undersized C...then complain about him being undersized all the time?

No we don't care cuz drafts are just one notch above drawing straws once your out of the first round. I like Fasano he will help us aka worth the pick now move on.

It's about value..what about Fasano screams 2nd round. His production is akin to a TE drafted on the 2nd day. ESPECAILLy with Jason Witten on the team...we will never get the production you would expect out of a 2nd roudn TE.

Same reason they weren't sold on Marcus McNeil - medical issues.

Apparently, Steven Jackson had a knee injury that some teams thought would shorten his career. It appears these teams were wrong.

wikipedia said:
Drafted in 2004, 24th overall to the St. Louis Rams to replace an ailing Marshall Faulk at the appearent end of his career, Jackson was seen as one of the new era 6'3 235lb speed/power backs, such as Larry Johnson. Jackson was overlooked by several teams in the draft, most likely due to a knee injury.

Also, can't have it both ways....we can't post's that drafts are a "crapshoot" when Parcells did the shopping...then scream about all the drafts that Jerry Jones presided over that sucked

You could if you make sure you attach Sean Payton's name to that...that was Payton's pick all the way

They also tried to trade back UP to get Kevin Jones.

Trust me when I say Stephen Jackson was not going to be the pick, even if we did not trade down...Kevin Jones was going to be the pick.

:hammer:

Why do people always forget this? Its was known after the draft Kevin Jones was our top rated RB, if we stayed at 22 we would have took him not Jackson

You wanna gripe about a 2nd round pick, it starts and ends with JJ. Trading away a franchise RB is Steven Jackson may haunt this franchise for years. The man had 2300 combined yards this year. A Faulk type back that will rush for 1400 and catch 800. HUGE mistake.

DING DING DING

Oh I see. Payton was allowed to scout and sign his own guys and even make personnel decisions that kept Romo on the active roster for three years, outside of Bill's control. You know, for a guy who was supposedly stifled by Bill and not given any input into the execution of the offense, he was certainly allowed a lot of power in our player acquisition and personnel department.

For someone with as many posts as you...it is somewhat shocking that you did nor read Larry Lacewells quotes to the local media when it came to Tony Romo. I am sure you know Romo attended the same college as Sean Payton...and Payton was pushing him ad nauseam.
