Will we keep a fullback on the roster?

I think there is a chance that we will not have a true fullback on the roster when the cut to 53 is made.

I also think there is an outside chance that we end up trading Folk at some point this (pre)season if there is a dire need for a roster spot.

Why would we trade Folk? He's the best kicker we've had in years.

I was thinking the same thing about the fullback. I love cricket's enthusiasm but the roster is just too tight for a position that we just aren't going to use. From what I understand from the blogs, Phillips is becoming an excellent blocker and the other two TE's already are excellent blockers. I could literally see us having a 3 te set using one as a blocker for Felix. I still would like to keep Ogletree. I have some kind of feeling about him where I think he will do something special. Remember, TO wasn't all that highly touted coming out of college, neither was Jerry Rice nor many other great wr's (see Colsten). They just became good for no apparent reason at all and that is the feeling I get with him and why I get kind of a sick feeling when we talk about letting him go. With all of these issues, I don't see a legitimate reason to keep an unneeded fullback who is injured a lot.

I wouldn't be surprised if we keep maybe 4 TEs or an extra OL and no FB.

I think we would just have 2 TEs and put Bennett into a H-back role, where he slides into the backfield to assume FB responsibilities

but also since we have 3 good RBs, we can put 2 in the backfield at the same time with 2 TEs on the field too

I would love to see Folk stay on the roster, but I think it depends on how badly we need the roster spot.

Stop with this nonsense. We drafted a kicker for touchbacks, Folk isn't going anywhere.

I don't think we should. With the wedge rule altering the way special teams will be played, I don't think Deon Anderson is that valuable anymore. I've liked what I've seen of him as a pass catcher, but how much of that has he done? And as a blocker and rusher, I don't think he offers very much.

Lets face it, the fullback is a position that can be played by any of the tight ends with probably little to no drop off in talent, and he isnt used that much in this offense. In addition, Cricket doesnt have the receiving ability that the tight ends do. I think he is a gonner. The only way Cricket makes this teams is if he is just too valuable as a special teamer, which would not seem to be the case.

You have to be kidding with the Folk trade??? Pro Bowl kicker? No way!!!

And Deon is too important for ST's. He is also a FB...not a TE, like Phillips.

do you remember Anthony Fasano??

Do you know what Crickets YPC average is as a receiving back when he's used??

We drafted a kicker for touchbacks, but Romo was a free agent at one time too, so what is your point? Does Beuhler's leg cease to exist when it is time to kick a field goal? How much difference is there between the two kickers on field goal percentage, at various distances, and is that difference worth using a roster spot for? Beuhler is going to stick on this roster, but someone is going to lose a spot because of him.

I hope Aesop Schwapp or however you spell it pans out. He's the kind of punishing lead blocker we need.
