Just testing the waters...trying to get feel for the general consensus around here..Will our week 17 matchup vs the Giants be a winner takes all game? Or will the Giants have the division wrapped up after week 16?

Lets just leave out any crazy wild card scenarios for the purpose of this thread...This thread is solely in regards to the NFC EAST..

EDIT*** to make this easier for those who dont know the circumstances..The only way week 17 wont be relevant is if Dallas loses to the Eagles AND the Giants win vs the Skins AND Jets..So Dallas MUST lose to philly for week 17 to be irrelevant...

I think in the end Dal and NY game will determine who makes it as the NFC champs.

Actually, the Giants have to beat the Skins AND Jets while the Cowboys lose to the Eagles to make week 17 irrelevant.

Edited: Nevermond, I read that wrong. You did put AND.

You read it right! I changed it lol.

I think it will be for the winner of the East.

I know there are some who really believe the Giants will lose to the Skins and Jets the next two weeks and that we'll take care of business against Tampa and Philly and make the final game irrelevant as far as the playoffs are concerned but I'm not buying that.

I think we'll win the next two and set ourselves up to be playing for the NFC East on the final weekend.

Of course it will. It will be in big ratings boost for the league. No way they would want it to be a bore.

Definitely, but maybe not for both teams.

lol, if its not relevant for both..than more than likely, its not relevant for either

Everybody is assuming we can beat tampa bay here, they can run the ball down our throat and have a better back than jacobs(the guy who we couldnt stop).

we dont even need to beat TB..beat Philly and NY and we win..but that Philly game scares the crap out of me..they rolled us

Besides the NFCE crown, I mean. If one team wins the next two games while the other loses the next two games, Week 17 still may be relevant to the winning team in terms of playoff slotting.

It's definitely a possibility. But I don't think it's likely. SF or NO would have to lose out. Those teams only have 3 losses. NFC east champ has 6 already.

And that all important momentum.

I agree with you here bb but I do think it's going to be important to both cause I think they'll be playing for the NFC East crown.

I really do think it is going to come down to the last game of the season. This is how I see it unfolding.

Dallas
Beats Tampa easily
Lose to Philly in a high scoring game
Lose to the Giants due to our weak secondary/defense. How do you expect us to beat them with players like Brooking, James, Newman, Ball, Spencer, Spears, etc. on defense? They will light us up like a Christmas tree.

Giants
Beats Washington in an ugly game
Loses to the Jets in an ugly game
Beats Dallas at home to win the division.

If we beat Philly, it will matter. If we don't, it won't. NY isnt losing the next two, so it's really that simple.

I am asking you whether we will beat philly or not...what do you think?

There is something else to play for called the wild card though. So it is important that we beat the Bucs. Also, if we lose to the Bucs... the mentally weak players on our team will then turn to quitters against the Eagles and Giants.

I'm not raining on your parade, to each their own here, but I'm just curious...didn't this defense have Brooking, James, Newman, Ball, Spencer, and Spears on it when they beat NY in NY last season?

I could have swore it did and with Ball having a much bigger role than he's got on defense now.
