He did say over the last 2 years, so maybe he meant it literally in that way?

Comparison over the last two years:

Yards per attempt (what they do with their carries vs how many carries they get)
Elliot - 4.29
Gordon - 4.24

TDs
Elliot - 18
Gordon - 17

20+ yard runs
Elliot - 7
Gordon - 7

40+ yard runs
Elliot - 0
Gordon - 2

and i said throw out 2020 because that was a mess of team no OL NO qb threat no defense bad coaching ..you can't try and add that in as a EE failed season..2019 zeke was very good and MG you have to compare careers MG is Jag EE is PB starting type bell cow back..sorry i stand by my GTFOH with that mess. Those couldn't wait for 2020 season where zeke had a bad season but its full of disclaimers listed them already..even 2019 zeke was better then MG..

sure the worst possible season zeke has in his career plays with 3rd string OL, 4 qbs played from 3 scores downs and the run game being ignored , sure he looked on MG level..

thats hilarious that knock on his you do realize and ill keep satin it ES had half his career yearly AVG at 4 or below..so Emmitt smith was MG as well i guess..so stupid..

1) re-shape Zeke's playing form to regain speed/agility
2) healthy OL
3) better coaching scheme and design

- we even use to see Zeke high hurdling over would be tacklers in the earlier ... even that's become a memory. but that also goes to show how much agility he's lost.
since he's bulked up. - would not be surprised if they added track & field specialists to work with ZKE in regaining his agility and burst.

- the OL needs to be healthy, Steele cannot be allowed in there again, Williams needs serious competition, better be ready for Tyron's Plan B replacement at some point.
Knight ?.. Tyresk ? Tyler Biadasz installed long term- but needs to get stronger though.

- Can even consultant Ben McAdoo suggest a better run scheme and design for the RBs, than what Kellen Moore is showing the last 2 years ? i used to think it was the man- power block
scheme ex-OL coach Marc Columbo preferred with his OL unit that was the problem (even though we finished 5th in NFL in rushing in 2019) with the lack of 20+ yrds splash runs
and we still see Pollard is just not much of a difference making in the pass game- as he could be given his speed and skill set.

Will Zeke have a bounce-back year? He may bounce but that is because he's fat. Maybe as soon as next season the FO will have him bounce out of here.

I think that is probably a good projection because McCarthy is not a RB pounding Coach. I think if Zeke matures and trains correctly he can be back to 2016 form for the most part. McCarthy won't use him like we did in 2016. His pass first mentality should lighten the load on Zekes body.

I love Zekes talent but don't have much faith in his dedication or maturity to be a true professional at his craft like Emmitt was. Emmitt had a desire to be the best ever. Zeke wanted to get paid like the best ever.

Any RB that gets close to 350 or more touches in a top 5 offense is going to rack up the yards. The offense would be more potent giving half of those touches to Pollard.

Ehh, No RB who is not effective is going to get 350 touches. That is not a valid argument

I will say no. I think with Dak and the WRs I expect them to pass more. I also expect Pollard to get more reps. I just don’t think Zeke is good anymore. No burst. Doesn’t block like he used to. Fumbles the ball more. I think he is finished as a big time player.
I won’t mind eating my words, but I agree

I don't think Zeke had a bad year but he did have a bad offensive line and if that is healthy he will be back in contention for as one of the best backs in football.

He had one solid season. And that was his rookie year. Everything else has been some kind a disastrous turmoil

People see how good he is and his numbers. I see how great he could be and the numbers that are possible. That’s why I think he’s a slacker . How many times does he put the ball in the ground when we needed him most .

I’m curious about your Emmitt Smith comparison. Emmitt had a YPC greater than 4 in 9 of his first 11 seasons, and his peak years were also his highest YPC years. So I don’t know where you’re getting this “half his career at 4 or below” stuff. You think he was a special player his last few seasons, when his YPC did dip below 4? I would argue he wasn’t special after 1995, with the exception of durability (which certainly has value).

Zeke is similar. He was an excellent rusher in 2019: not a lot of big plays, but he had a very high rate of successful runs. He’s durable and powerful. He provides very little in the passing game (but he is a good pass blocker) and he isn’t going to give you any explosive plays. But he’s a very solid rusher, and I expect him to be that for maybe two more seasons before the decline really takes its toll. I don’t think they should have re-signed him, because I don’t think the skills he has make him worth that kind of money, but he’s not a liability on the field yet.

Thats what 400 touches a season will do to you. Zeke is worn down but is stomach keeps telling him hes hungry. Zeke has gone from outrunning CBs to being run down by LBs from behind.

Right on.....and Zeke wasn't healthy for a good chunk of the year, even missing a game with an injury for the first time in his career.

I want to see what Rico Dowdle and the other rookie RBs can do before TC is history. Maybe there's another who can contribute!
