Contractual issues make it unlikely that we can keep both. A lot of money already tied up in the secondary.
theogt;1863110 said:I don't understand the point of this poll. They don't play the same position and it's not an either/or situation. Williams is much better against the run and Hamlin is much better against the pass. Trying to quantify whether Roy's ability against the run is better than Hamlin's ability against the pass is dumb.
And I think anyone who believes we can't keep both is ignorant as far as our cap situation.wastedfluid;1863119 said:And you're only thinking one angle of it.
I don't think we'll be able to afford both - and I'm thinking this is what the poster actually meant. In a cap situation, Hamlin, or Williams? Which do you want in your secondary? Sure, they play a different position - but it's the same as asking, Davis, or Adams? Sure, Adams is a better pass blocker, and Davis is better in run blocking - but if you had to pick one, which would you pick?
I'd rather have Hamlin in my secondary, as opposed to Williams. Hamlin is pretty good versus the run too, y'know.
I chose Roy. I think the type of player that he is is more unique. I think we could find a better coverage safety pretty easily if we needed, though. The only reason it's been hard to find one over the past several years is because we've been trying to get by on the cheap at the position.burmafrd;1863130 said:So OGT: overall the question was if you cannot keep both then who do you choose?

And Hamlin is decent against the run. But he's nowhere near as good as Roy. Just the same, Roy is decent against the pass, but he's nowhere near as good as Hamlin.
Seems so.wastedfluid;1863155 said:LOL.
Too much controller lately? Who do you let go if you re-sign Hamlin? He's going to want big money, probably close to, if not more, than Sanders.
I guess I'm ignorant to our cap situation. We're set to have around $19 million (prior to Crayton's extension) next year. You have to sign Barber, or Jones. Hamlin. Draft picks... You need to start pushing cap forward, because Newman is going to demand a lot. Ware is up soon. Please, fill me in.
