Wingo replaces Berman on ESPN Draft coverage

I used to love Berman, when I was a kid and also liked canned tuna fish and corn dogs.

ESPN has a superior draft show to NFLN but I would avoid ESPN whenever Berman was on. The most self-important, sleazy guy in sports media - and that's hard to do. Also not a fan of Kiper, for no other reason than he rubs me the wrong way. I don't think he's a bad guy and actually admire his work ethic. He was killing it in draft research before it was easy and cool.

I liked the old 2 day marathon drafts. I despise the round of retired players announcing picks. I really hate the fans announcing picks. I can't stand the puff-pieces that take time away from player-highlight time. It seems like the coverage isn't about drafting players anymore, but rather a desperate attempt to get females to watch the show.

Thank God for the internet, and especially the guys on this site that post video links and scouting reports when our picks come in!

I want my lost weekend back. Badell has taken away the best weekend in the offseason. The only break was during game 1 of the Spurs first round playoff series.

As I've gotten older I've grown to find annoyance with Berman with all the reasons already listed


I've found a happy balance between listening to the draft show for cowboys only analysis sprinkled in with NFL network on the tv just loud enough that I can grab a few interesting things to hear when I see something that catches my eyes

ESPN is vastly superior to the crap on NFLN. Fake draft guy on that network. Wannabe Mel.

If the Network could steal Kiper.... may never recover. He's probably the only credible football guy on their set. @ least he watches some tape. Maybe not as much as he used too...but still...

 

[Verdict]

If NFLN didn't have a draft show I would gladly watch ESPN since any info and coverage is better than none. But I enjoy NFLN draft show so much better than ESPN. I don't care for Berman, but Kiper is a bit of a tool too.

Maybe I am in the minority, but I think Mayock is pretty awesome in draft coverage and respectfully criticizes picks. He doesn't make it dramatic, and he may give his opinion on it, but he realizes that no one knows how these picks are going to turn out until years on down the road.
