well coming from you this is no surprise. And things were much better covered up 40+ years ago but you wouldn't know anything about that, would you?

Actually, the Rentzel situation was far from "covered up".

It was publicized in the papers soon after it happened, but you wouldn't know anything about that either.

Cowboy's Rentzel arrested

Charged with exposure

DALLAS ( AP ) — Star wide receiver Lance Rentzel of the Dalas Cowboys , charged with indecent exposure , was placed on the inactive list Monday at his own request . Rentzel was charged Monday morning in an alleged incident involving a 10-year-old girl , placing his brilliant football career in jeopardy . A statement by Tex Schramm , president and general manager of

the National Football League said : Lance Rentzel has requested that he be placed on the inactive list so he may devote his time to settling his personal affairs . Within the league structure , we are able to do this through the move list . He will be unavailable to the team for a minimum of two games . He will work out with the team as time permits . No trial date was set on the felony charge . Conviction on the charge carries maximum punishment of 2 to 15 years imprisonment . Cowboy players were mostly silent about the matter . The players said Rentzel told them about it in a meeting before the team defeated Green Bay 16-3 Thanksgiving Day . Rentzel played in the game . Rentzel , 27 , who is married to television star Joey Heatherton , posted a $ 1 , 500 appearance bond Nov . 23 . The original complaint is dated Nov . 19 .

Police Chief Forrest Keene of suburban University Park said the offense report was filed about 4 p . m . Nov . 19 , alleging Rentzel drove up in his car , talked to the girl , then exposed himself . Police said a warrant was issued for Rentzel s arrest after an automobile license plate was traced .

I respect Staubach as a player and as a man, but I think it was a cheap shot he took at Hardy. Saying he wouldn't want to play with him is a bit hypocritical.

Yeah, that was disappointing and out of character for Rodger.

Rodger is not a hypocrite, he just comes from a different generation.. It's like having your grandfather say something that's very un-pc at Thanksgiving.. They speak from the heart...

I'm saying he is being hypocritical because he already played with guys that did what he is accusing Hardy of and worse.

If he didn't say anything then, he shouldn't say something now when the circumstances are very murky.

Roger Staubach to me is as close to as perfect a person as one could ever expect to find. I respect his opinion more than any other Cowboy that has ever been. His comment about second chances is key- he was never blind to what was going on around him. He watched Duane Thomas destroy what could have been a HOF career; and Hollywood Henderson do the same. He was one of the key people in helping Bob Hayes come back from his drug problems.

Did Hollywood Henderson say Roger helped him in his time of need?

Several things about that.

1) Roger never played on a team without a pass rush. He had embarrassingly good defenses supporting him. So I would guess he would undervalue that a little. Desperation sometimes makes teams take chances. It is nice and all he would never allow it, but he is speaking from a totally different perspective.
2) He also played with child molesters and drug addicts. He states he didn't know. I find that hard to believe since even fans knew, a little after the fact of course, but it is not like he played with boy scouts either.

You know active child molesters?

But do you know if he knew about it? There are many things I'm finding out about people I had no idea they were doing. People are good at hiding unpleasant stuff in their background.

So what if he's a hypocrite? Folks act like being a hypocrite is like being a child molester.
Besides, everyone is a hypocite. That doesn't stop any of us from advocating right behavior at some point in our lives, as we should.

Just giving my opinion.

I think he is taking a cheap shot at Hardy.

I do not think it is a cheap shot. He is welcome to his opinion, but to act like he never accepted teammates of low moral fiber is just a little disingenuous.

How so? He was asked about Hardy, and he answered honestly. Hardy was in a particular criminal case. He was convicted then had charges dropped. Hardy can't run from his past, and Roger isn't obligated to ignore it either.

He didn't say he didn't accept teammates of low moral fiber. He said he had a problem with domestic violence.

We are all sinners, but all sins aren't equal. I can see where one would make a distinction between sins that hurt others vs. sins that hurt only the individual involved, namely one's self.

Roger knows his opinion carries a lot of weight in Dallas. I think he wrongly convicted Hardy with his judgement call. Just like the Mayor did a few weeks ago.

Anyone that has looked at the facts of the case at all should be very leery about painting Hardy as an abuser.

No need to bring up the bench trial to try and buttress the argument. That conviction means nothing without pursuing the jury trial. It is akin to a Grand Jury indictment.

Oy vey. Now CowboysZone's has placed Roger Staubach on public trial.

Roger.

Staubach.

He needs sound counseling. Someone who has experienced this type of **** in droves.

Someone slip Staubach Romo's cell number. And for pete's sake, please tell him to stay as far away from North Carolina as humanly possible.

I hope Dallas wins a championship to simply and finally allow fans to get a freaking grip again.

Sounds like you are the one that can't handle a little criticism of Roger Staubach, like he is somehow above it all.

If anyone does not feel the excitement of what is going on with this team, they are either blind or they just don't like the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys might not win it all this season, but things are looking up.
You are the new "Crazy Cowboy" since he doesn't post anymore. Hey man, I'm excited believe it or not, but I just can't get rid of this doubt deep in my heart. I guess that comes with not going to the Super Bowl in two decades.
