Three timeouts and a two minute warning ...

You punt the rock deep and make Carolina play ... then hopefully you force punt and get the ball in Austin’s hands somewhere around the 50.

Yes we got the ball back eventually but on our 20.

I mean let’s stop this lying to ourselves Jason Garret never belonged in the NFL. He lived off that TGivimg miracle for years.

My fandom used to be so passionate, I had Jerseys , I’d fly to see them , scream @ TVs but now .. I just kinda tune in and observe.

I don’t feel the fire I once had for the team an Garret is a huge reason.

I like the call, execution from the qb was terrible. Late throw and ended up being high as well. If he threw it before the cut was made the receiver is wide open when it gets there.

I was fine with him going for it.

Our defense was good but who knows if they had figured out that Cam could run or not.

That has nothing to do with giving up 40 yards of field position.
Dude youre second guessing him going for it (when hes been criticized his whole coaching tenure for having no balls), when we know the outcome either way

The QB sucks. The receivers suck. The coach sucks.

We couldve got the ball at carolina’s 10, and we wouldnt have scored

Maybe they return the punt for a TD. Maybe Zeke actually makes a play and runs it in. Defense was playing well enough to punt there IMO.

i would have punted too because it was 4th & 10 and our 4th Round Compensatory Pick QB cant throw it past that mark on target.

Maybe the Defense could have forced a fumble in their Redzone so atleast Zeke could maybe run it in.

Still even at that Point i would have no hope for the Cowboys to get a TD + 2pt Conversion.

i saw a play in the ATL / Phillly game where matt ryan threw a pass before julio even turned around. that's some trust and anticipation

This isn’t why I’m upset. I actually like that we went for it there and we got the ball back anyways with 2 min left. The coaching is terrible. We have zero imagination on offense and the QB can’t throw. Dak backs up way to much when he has a pocket. He doesn’t see the field very well. Even little things like Gallup dropping that short crossing route. Yes he dropped it but Dak threw behind him and it was only a 5 yard pass. Even if Gallup catches it he turns and gets 15 yards. If Dak makes and accurate throw and leads him he’s still running now.

That was an amazing play, one of the few I actually watched as it happened that game. Then good old Matt Ryan choked it a few times once they were near the goalline

I would have faked it - nothing to lose and Jones is one of the better punters for fakes.

Can’t disagree with anything you said. I wasn’t even upset yesterday as I’m numb to it and expected it. Ho hum onto the next one.

It really doesn't matter if you can't complete simple passes. I was OK with the call though.

I would have punted in that situation too. Everything about that situation said to punt.

  • Had 3 timeouts and the 2 minute warning
  • defense was playing well
  • punter who can pin the ball deep
  • offense that was anemic on 3rd down conversions
  • 10 yard to go for the 1st down with a struggling offense against a good defense
  • QB playing horrible who was inaccurate as can be
We needed to punt there, trust the defense to make a stop and hopefully get a short field for the offense with a fresh set of downs. If the defense was getting gashed or if it were 4th and short with an increased odds of converting then maybe you go for it, but the game situation certainly pointed to punting being the best option at the time.

That said, I doubt the team would have scored anyway even if they got the ball back.

I think they would have been prepared for that. No need for them to try and block the punt or return it. Just kick back and play it safe. Be prepared for the fake and don't muff the punt.
