With both Mo and Church out

Church is 4-6 weeks with the broken forearm.

I anticipate Mo is out for the year. Sports hernia is 6-8 weeks, plus a few tacked on because he's Mo and our training staff seems to add a few weeks to the normal healing process. Even "just" a bad groin pull is most of the year, if at all, before he's really back.

Keep in mind we haven't used our IR designated to return yet. I suspect Mo is a prime candidate for this. It's 8 weeks so I'm hoping that's enough time for him to heal and rehab. Newman came back in 5 weeks.

Wilcox for Church is more concerning than Scandrick for Claiborne, mainly because I think Church has a good bit to do with alignments and communication.

This also means more Heath in subpackages.

I am hoping we look for fortifications the next couple days.

Our practice squad players do not impress me.

Yes but church is out only 3-5 weeks with 2 of those games against the Browns and Ravens who have bad offenses. The one game we could really miss him is vs Pittsburgh. Hope he's back after Thanksgiving.

Pretty scary we are actually discussing Church being out as a deficit.

Brown is not interchangeable with MO. This is a huge hit and has a cascading effect. Everyone's matchup suddenly got harder. And we lose oscan slot blitzes. As you might recall he had a huge sack last night .
I meant Brown and Scandrick are interchangeable. Both are effective in the slot and can play outside, although as noted Scandrick is the better blitzer.

Mo's been amazing, but we're fortunate to have a player as talented as Anthony Brown replacing him.

Has it been confirmed that Scandrick is moving outside and Brown is in the slot?

Its going to be that much harder but other teams are losing players also. Philly had a couple of crucial injuries. Teams have to dig deeper into their pockets and play that much better and rise their level of play.

Sucks because our secondary was the reason our defense has been playing so well. We've had one of the best secondaries in the league this season. If we lose our talent and depth, our struggles in the D-line will start to be more apparent. I think this could have a bigger effect than people are anticipating.

We'll miss Church vs the skins. While their run offense is meh, their passing offense is one of the best in the league right now.

They need to make a deal for a CB. One more injury and Jones has to go back to CB and your starting safeties are Wilcox and Frazier. We can't have that and continue to be a serious contender. Home field will quickly disappear.

I think folks are a little glib about replacing Wilcox for Church and thinking we don't miss a beat. I think you get diminishing returns with Wilcox the longer he's on the field.

I think it's justified to wonder about the secondary and the backup personnel but the number one person who should feel the need to step in and step up with the Mo and Church injuries is D Lawrence.

Im kinda interested to see if he looks more comfortable at SS then he did at FS.

I agree with your point though. Church is no world beater but he is a cerebral assignment sound player. While he may is never going to be in an offenses head, he will be wear he needs to be

Yeah, SS is seemingly a better fit for his skillset.

And not for nothing I believe both are FA's ( I know Wilcox definitely is) I could see them bring back Wilcox to play SS even before the injury. May as well see how he looks as a starter

I think Mo's injury just ended La'el Collins season. Both could return from IR but I think they bring MO back if he needs surgery.

Those losses will be massive if roethlisberger is back for pittsburgh. The steelers can matchup position group for position group with dallas and the area where they already had the clear edge would be the passing game.
