With CB Cason running just under 4.50, where do you

Agree with the depth. This is a great draft to have two 1sts.

I don't think it would be a crime to take him at #28.

Realisticly speaking, it's 3 picks from being the second round.

And if it means getting a great cornerback, I'd be thrilled.

He was the best corner in college and his Combine numbers are more than adequate for the position. I just can't see him not going in the 1st round.

But then, I'm not very good at predicting where players will go.

I'm with you, Cason is the most ready to step in and preform right away. I don't think he has the same ceiling as a guy like DRC, but he's a complete CB.

think he will fall in the Draft?

I am expecting that McKelvin, Cromartie, and Jenkins may be gone by 22.

But I'm thinking Cason should be fair value at 28, for example.

He is a "football player", and while he's not blazing fast, he has the ball skills, toughness, etc to start at CB down the line.

Or do you guys think he falls to the 2nd round?

I wouldn't touch him till round 3.
He's a 2nd round pick, but the problem is he's not a cover corner, he's a ZONE CORNER, a tampa 2 type C.B., so since he doesn't really fit our system, I wouldn't draft him till round 3 and while I wouldn't remove him completely off our board like we do in most cases with guys who don't fit your scheme, I'd move him down 1 round, and only cause he'd be such great value in round 3 and he'd be a good addition in round 3 and we could move himi to safety if need be, BUT I don't want him drafted by us before that (even though he will get drafted in round 2) because he doesn't fit our scheme and isn't a cover corner.

I threw this out a month ago, and what do you guys think about it now?

1a. DRC
1b. Felix Jones
2. Antoine Cason (for FS)

The depth at CB in this draft is as good as I have ever seen.

Its ironic because our other big need is WR and that may be the worst group in forever.

I'd be really tempted to take more than 1 CB this year.

If you can get Cason in round 2 when we pick he'll very, very, very likely be the best player available.

If we ended up with McKelvin and Cason I think we'd be set to cover any team in the NFL, even the Pats.

WR though... maybe one of those guys sitting at 22 could develop but I doubt seriously any of them would help us next year and really even the year after that.

After Jones showinga at the combine no thanks. ray rice's time was right there with his in the 40 and rice smoked him everywhere else..

He would be a steal at #28. He is the most polished corner in the draft at this time. Cromartie will not make it too us ay#22.

I wouldn't mind taking Cason at 28 either.

That would be an A+ draft.

I expect all of those guys are gone by those slots but if they aren't they are great values.

As I just mentioned above I'd definitely be tempted to grab 2 CBs this draft because this class is so deep and they are so valuable.

somebody like Auburn's Jonathan Wilhite in the later rounds, fast guy, breaks well on the ball, and has experience against top competition

I think DRC will not last that far, Cason will not fall that far, and Cason will not play FS in the NFL. He's a man coverage corner.

I'm beginning to wonder if there are really just 31 picks in the first round, because there appears to be about 50 players that I hear everyone is certain will be a first round pick.

Cason is probably not in the top CBs on most teams board, and as such, he will not be going in Round 1.

Just like every year... There are always at least 15 "Top 10" picks and at least 40 "First round" picks. ;)

But on Cason... The "most polished" guy is exactly what we don't need IMO. Because we don't need anyone to start right away, our situation is perfect for a more athletic but less polished player that can be coached and groomed for a while. I'd rather have the guy with the high upside than a guy who is better now but is close to maxed out.

I wonder why you say this? Felix Jones was basically top 10 at each drill for RBs.

He had good but not great speed and then showed good explosion and quickness in the other drills.

He had a good showing IMHO.

But even more than that, the combine is a crappy place to rank RBs:) RB and QB are the hardest two positions to rank based off of raw numbers imho.

Still may well be better value in round 2 in someone like Jamaal Charles.

I'm always for drafting the guy with the least "downside" when drafting high. If you're talking 5th or 6th round, then yeah, you're going to looks for "high potential" guys that have certain questions (e.g., small school, position change, character issues).

I'm all for taking 2 of these CB's in the 1st three rounds.... Look if they both panned out you wouldn't have to give Tnew the farm. You might let him play this yr and franchise him next yr. I love Tnew, but I'm not sure he's worth 80 to 100 million at 29.

I think it just depends, it's hard do we take the Philly stance of staying competitive and not overpaying for FA's even our own. Do we just sell out and go for it all in the next two yrs and pay a cap death penalty at some point down the road?

I thought our cap was in great shape, but I keep hearing we are cap strapped then I look at Washington and shake my head.

Anyway back to CB's.... We don't play press man to man and we seem to go Zone on passing downs so to me we can't have a pure cover 2 guy, but guys like Cason should work well in our system, we need DB's that will make the QB hesitate, make him think.... anything to lessen his comfort zone.
