With Deware gone that makes DE a top priority

And there is not much in FA that is worth the money left. So now DE becomes a top need. Could seriously impact our draft now. Whoever we get is not likely to have the impact that Deware had on offenses.

I was just coming to post this.

I think we go hard after Melton, Hatcher returns, and DE is the round 1 draft priority.

Well Ware gets us about what 7 Million in cap space we can use. Did not really check the number much. If we can get someone like melton on the Inside, then we go all out for the best DE we can get in the draft probably.

or it could be a trade up for Clowny

Ealy Ealy's length and burst off the edge are his most exciting traits but don't overlook his instincts against the pass. In two seasons as a starter, Ealy defended 13 passes, showing the instincts and athleticism to wreak havoc against quarterbacks in more ways than one. Proponents of the 4-3 and 3-4 schemes alike will appreciate that ability to generate turnovers

I wouldn't mind Aaron Donald and a 2 year deal for Jared Allen.

Kony Ealy
Dee ford
Scott Crichton
Kareem Martin
Trent Murphy

One of these guys will be a Dallas Cowboy in the first 2 rounds.

Just as long as we don't reach just for the sake of taking a DE. There are some nice options in rounds 2-4.

Martin
Murphy
Crichton
M. Smith
C. Smith
Clarke
Lawrence
Attaoucho
Reily

Trade up IMO for either Clowney, if falls, Barr or Mack.

So you're going to mortgage the entire draft to fill 1 position? Sounds like a horrible idea. Especially when the guy you are trying to replace hasn't exactly been elite level the last 2 years. Hatcher is still a bigger hole to fill

Hatcher or Melton will be signed before draft, plus Cowboys still have Crawford and Bass on the roster. There is no replacement for Ware at RDE anywhere on the roster or FA.

I'm concerned about Ford's size unless they are planning on going with a hybrid defense.

Crichton is my guy, hope they figure out a way to land him either with first rd trade down or second rd pick. Good athlete, relentless motor and solid instincts.

Giving Hatcher the type of contact he's going to demand is what got us in trouble in the 1st place.. he's on the wrong side of 30 and beat up. No thanks.

And let me know when Melton is signed and Crawford and Bass show they are even NFL caliber players.

The entire d line is in shambles at the moment. You don't trade picks in an incredibly deep draft to fill 1 position when you have so many holes.

Trade your draft for a guy who rocketed up draft boards based on a) one hit in a bowl game on a player that was 4'7", 95lbs, and b) ESPN's media campaign?

No thanks.

The rebuild of the dline will take time, but to be honest we didnt get much of a pass rush from Ware last year and there are probably plenty of options that can get us 6 sacks. I did want the Cowboys to work out a deal to keep Ware, but if were losing the aging unhealthy player that we had in 2013 I dont think we will miss the production. I honestly think Hatcher will be a bigger loss and look at him as more of a vocal leader on defense.
