....I know this has been discussed before, but after this weekend it is completely clear that Jerry is totally committed to building this team on both sides of the ball, from top to bottom, in the mold of a true Bill Parcells-style football team.
I, for one, like it. We are much bigger and physical than we were 3 years ago. I just wish Bill would have begun the process form the first day he arrived.
But, with all the talk about this being Bill's last year, (JJT and other media members are on record saying it's his last year) and Jerry even joking about some of these Parcells-type Jersey players, (Fasano), being here longer than Parcells will be, it raises the question WHO, will be the next HC?
With the total commitment to building the team in Parcells' image, you effectively limit the pool of HC candidates that will be considered when Parcells steps down.
Forget Stoops or any other high profile college coach, other than Charlie Weis. Weis is the logical successor to Parcells, and would be my personal choice to take over, but unfortunately, I don't think he is leaving ND anytime soon, if ever.
Perhaps Zimmer could be the guy, because he has been schooled in the Parcells way. I certainly don't want Zimmer as the HC, but it's a possibility as Parcells has invested a lot of time in Zimmer.
There has been talk of Jerry's respect for Holmgren, but does he fit as our head coach with what we are trying to put together with our personnel?
What are your thoughts? This is the subject that will be the main topic of discussion in a few months if Parcells steps down as many are predicting.
