With new format, even 12-5 is unlikely to cut it as 1 seeds have advantage to make the Super Bowl

I’ve said it before, but if they want better playoffs all the way to the SB with teams that deserve it:

• Add 1 more team to the playoffs in each conference
• Everyone plays in the Wildcard round; 4 division champs host 4 wild cards
• Win 3 games to reach the SB for everyone
• Skip one week between final games of season and the playoffs; so all playoff teams get a bye week to heal and prepare

If you don’t want the season to go an extra week, then eliminate the extra week before the SB which I’ve always thought was stupid. With the randomness of schedules and division strength always changing, no team deserves an easier path to the SB, only playing two games like the 2 Philly played, and I would feel the same way if we were the #1 seed. Let seeding only determine who plays at home.

Once the playoffs expand to 16 teams it won’t matter, but until then #1 seeds will win almost every championship.
