With Parcells as the "old school" head coach, ... will we ever get our money's worth out of Terrell Owens ?

Or will he always hold him back so one player doesn't overshadow the team ?

Sort of like Dean Smith did with Michael Jordan at UNC.

I don't think he is holding TO back I think TO is still learning and will be used is different ways as he learns this offense.

Dean Smith won a championship with Jordan. So I guess you will take that, right?

Point taken.

I don't think getting our money's worth would prevent us from winning anything though.

Heck, it may even help, you never know. ;)

I am pretty much convinced that Parcells will not allow any Jerry jones player to shine, just to show who's really the boss!

Like he did not let Lawrence Taylor, Curtis Martin or Willie McGinnest shine?

I read an interesting article in the paper this morning.

Three things jumped out at me.

1. Jerry Jones said he saw the game plan and it was VERY geared to getting the ball to TO - in fact I think he said it was "all about" TO and Glenn.

2. The article said that the game films showed TO wasn't open nearly as often as he thought. There were a few times, yes, but those times were the rare exception.

3. Some scouts were puzzled at some of the routes TO ran - believing that he sometimes ran the wrong route and other times ran the routes in a sloppy manner.

Jerry Jones may be covering for his coaches, but I doubt it - his hostorical behavior would suggest that if we didn't make enough of an effort to get the ball to TO he wouldn't sugar coat it.

As for TO thinking he was open, it's hard to comment since I don't have the benefit of game film, but high strung prima donna type WR's like TO and Moss and our own Michael Irvin have been known to feel overlooked, especially when the team loses.

As for the routes, who knows - game films and knowledge of the cowboys playbook would be needed to reach an opinion on that topic.

I agree and I also know many WR claim to be open even when it is not the case. They still feel that if you throw in their direction they can make the play.

Maybe he doesn't like WR's :p:

Two of those you mentioned are on D, and it is not hard to get the ball to a RB.

How good can a WR be if he does not have the ball, (except at WVU) ? :D

As Parcells said the many plays coming in were directed at TO however if he is not open or not running the right rout the ball is not going to be throw to him. We also do not know how much of this offense TO understands at this point.

Well, I don't know. Oppinions vary I suppose but the reverse to this is that Michael Jordan went on to be consider as, arguably, the best basketball player ever.

Dean Smith went on to be the winning coach in the History of the NCAA.

Maybe there's more too it then just what we see on the surface.

My point in mentioning DS & MJ was back to the old joke that nobody could stop MJ except DS.

Nobody can stop Owens except Parcells and his offense.

I wasn't comparing player skills or coaches talents.

Terry Glenn, at the time of being a rookie, Set the rookie record for most receptions.

He is still getting the ball and making plays for bill.

We target him more than any other receiver, in a variety of different routes, and Parcells is trying to hold him back so he doesn't get the glory?

I give up. Conspiracy theories are apparently way too fun. Maybe I'll start a thread about how Barber would be starting if Parcells didn't hate RBs with hair.

I pray that Bledsoe can start hitting the broad side of a barn so this foolishness will end.

I understand. Just trying to lend both sides a voice. I don't think Parcells is a bad coach, per say. I think he's a good one. I don't like some things about him but in the end, I think we are probably lucky to have him.

After I watched the game on Sunday and then read these boards on Monday...I was astounded. I read a post by Adam (whose gonna argue with him and stats) that said TO was thrown to 13 times.

I was like...No way. Now I did miss a few minutes of the game here and there...But no way did we throw to him that much.

Then, I watched and counted on the Tuesday night reply (which doesn't even show the WHOLE game)...and I became more convinced. BTW, I'm also convinced that Bledsoe's passing game has a major problem...Not as much velocity and accuracy as in the past...but I digress.

So, could it be that TO felt the same way I did after the game ? My 1st time threw I thought DB threw at him 7 times max...Boy was I wrong.

My local paper - I know it wasn't a local writer, but I don't recall who actually wrote it.

I'll see if I can get the info if you want.

Don't forget, Terry is one of "Bill's guys".

Owens obviously is not.
