With the 8th pick the Cowboys

And Blair Thomas Went #2 and Emmitt went 17th.. There is probably thousands of examples.

Well, the lead guitarist on that album obviously did not sell his soul, but should have.

heh yeah whatever. I don't get into flame wars. My opinion is all that matters to me. :) I do love me some Megadeth though. :)

Actually, please explain to me the cross hate? You're mad because Metallica booted Dave out? F Dave, he was booted for good reason. It's good too because at least he figured it out. If he had stayed the way he was, he would be dead now.

As I said, don't get me wrong. I am a huge Megadeth fan, but I don't get the cross hate. Metallica is an EPIC band and will go down in heavy metal history as one of the best and most influencial bands ever. People should seriesouly look at what's actually important, (the musics effect on you) not some idiot feud between a bunch of drunkards.

It has nothing to do with the feud. Dave was booted for good reason. And Dave isn't the greatest lead guitarist on the planet either (he's not even the best guitarist in any of various Megadeth lineups).

And don't get me wrong, I do enjoy early Metallica (my first concert ever was And Justice for All Tour, Pittsburgh March 4, 1989). But as great as that band is, the leads leave a lot to be desired. Hammett just doesn't have the technical mastery that you would expect of someone who sold their soul. That's all I was getting at. I am not offering a controversial opinion. I think that opinion is widely shared, especially among those that play the instrument.

As for guitar mastery, I agree. (though he has trained with some of the best guitarist in the world) As for bringing a lead alive with stories of their own. That is where Kirk IMO has always been incredible. I mean go back and listen to Battery, MoP, Fade to Black, Orion, and there are a host of them out there. The best rhythm I've ever heard from him (that was his, not James) was Creeping Death's main rhythm. He even admits that is the best one he has ever created. That said, 80% of the talent in Metallica is Hetfield. Though that isn't to say Kirk and Lars aren't talented. They are, but James is what makes Metallica, Metallica.

Right, but that has nothing to do with the suggestion that you don't take a safety in the top 10. The right move was to draft a safety; just a different one.

you're actually making my point
There is no need to take safety in top 10 because the best safeties are typically picked later

with the 8th pick in the '02 draft the Cowboys selected Roy Williams S OU.
The Ravens picked Ed Reed S from the U hours later at pick 24.
I was a big a fan of our pick as anyone! Roy was my pet cat. Looking back I'm sure 99% of us would pick Reed in a redraft.

All this to say opinions are great and everyone has one but let's not be so quick to dismiss others opinions because you're sure your guy is the better pick.

In this wacky world that is the NFL draft you just never know.

Roy Williams is still to this day one of the best defensive players I've ever seen in college. He took over games!

Way to go Kelly Rowland.....
