With this D, Romo's gonna need to sling it: and that worry me

Gimme half spent all spring and summer saying that with this porous defense, Tony and his supporting cast is gonna half to put up at least 30 points ever game to even think of winning one.

So Tony Romo, walk-on from Eastern Illinoise, is going to half to sling it consistently. And that worry me because of his pomposity to thow it early and often and into double and triple coverage.

But still I cannot blame Tony for this sorry D we half.
He is just gonna half to thow, thow, thow.
Yes, Murray give us hope for a sustained ground game this season, but with the opposing teams (The Rams QB was essentially a rookie????) thowing with inpunity and success, tony gotta put up 30 or more points per game.

Talk about catch 32. If tony don't sling it we fall behind. If he sling it too much he get intercepted. If he sling it too little, our ground game might not keep up with the opposing star wars offenses we will face.

Quite the dillema, huh?

I say, keep thowing it, Tony. You half to. Just don't thow it into double and triple coverage and we'll be allright, son.

Throwing constantly into the teeth of defenses who know you have to throw it always ends up with some sacks and interceptions, especially if your QB doesn't have a golden arm. Their only hope will be to shorten the games with ball control and hope they can win it late in fourth, which is a 50/50 proposition at best when your D sucks.

Is OP for real?

These two teams are almost mirror images. Great offense, poor defense. Probably comes down to last series.

I think he needs to do the opposite. They need to run right at the Saints and keep Brees off the field but more importantly they need to stop turning the ball over. You might be able to get away with falling behind the Rams by three touchdowns but the Saints, although disappointing so far, aren't the Rams.

Control the clock, keep Brees and company off the field, don't turn it over and have the defense actually force a punt or two this time around and the Cowboys have a good shot at coming away with the win.

I don't know what pompostiy means but...we were down 14-0 on the pick 6 d had ears pinned back it was a good read by Mr. Trippers, and about his arm he seemed to throw with more velocity as the game went on maybe his footwork is coming back a lilttle bit, or he is becoming familiar with his oline on gameday the Murray running adjustment before the second half was a thing of beauty I have no idea what was said or done but it worked ....and our defense talk about clutch int td!!...enjoy the win bro..t romo is not a problem lets hope Spencer is one for saints cuz I would love to see this secondary with some kind of pass rush

There is many schools of thought. Yeth you are right to want to lactate the clock. And not turning the ball over is football 101. But I can see Brees passing all day on tight sideline slants and us halfing to catch up. That is when Romo, walk-on from Eastern Illinoise, half to thow. And again that make me uneasy. Uneasy as walking into an elevator with a Ravens RB.

Belief me, we got out of dodge with a win Sunday. New Orleans will not be a walk in the cake, I can assure you.

Pomposity, you know, like a need to or something that one do frequently.
(Not like the pompatus of love, that being the Maurice of pop lore).
Otherwise I think we speak the same language.

Tony does not have to win it by himself, Dallas needs to operate their offense using both run and pass, defense has to make some plays. I don't expect defense to shut them down teams I do expect them to make plays to help the team.

No I'm saying Tony is not going to go out and throw it 50 time and we will win. We will have chances to win if this offense can continue to mix run and pass. You can make a passing game a lot more dangerous when you get teams having to crowd the line and safeties pulled up. If all you are going to do is throw it then defense pens their ears back and comes after Romo.
Defensively they have to make plays they don't have to be the 85 Bears but they will have to make plays within the game. I don't care if they give up 400 yards I do expect some of these young guys to fight and make play to help change the outcome and they have done that up to this point.
I think some get caught up in the yards I don’t give a damn about yards, I care about points and I care about defense making plays to help this team.

I disagree, we stayed in this ball game by running. Romo throwing is a bad idea. TOP by running, take care of the ball. Our defense has made stops and gotten turnovers.

Who cares about how many yards someone throws or runs. Did Rams win the game. .... no. We threw the ball against San Fran and lost but we had more yards. Yards doesn't mean anything, points is what matters at the end of the day. Who has more points win ball games

It's all about situational football, there's games when you have to air it out just to keep up (Denver last year), and then there's game when you wont have to throw it near as much and can still win. I don't think there's set requirement to be successful, for example, just because you came out and ran it 15 times in the first quarter doesn't automatically mean you'll have success.

What if the run is getting completely stuffed (like 15 carries for 28 yards for example) and we're down 24-0 to the Saints in the first quarter? And they're showing zero signs of being slowed down by our defense as they're 4/4 on drives with 3 TDs. Do you decide to move away from an inefficient run game because you can't afford to fall behind even more? Or do you stick to handing it off to Murray and just hope for the best despite needing to make up 4 possessions (24 points).

I believe teams with great defenses are able to more easily stick to their game plan (when down 3+ possessions), because when you're down that much you'll need your defense to create some turnovers and stops for you to get back into the game. Even though Dallas went onto a 34-3 tear against the Rams, if Bruce Carter doesn't get that pick 6 we're talking a completely different ball game with the Rams.

Linehan showed guts against the Rams, because he pretty much faced this same situation (though our run game was still somewhat productive), he stuck to his guns and kept feeding Murray. Though I do believe the ONLY reason he were able to do this is because we were playing against Austin Davis and the Rams. There's a huge difference in a 21 point deficit between the Rams (Austin Davis), and a team like the New Orlean Saints (Drew Brees) or the Seattle Seahawks (Russel Wilson).

We'll see what happens, because I'm willing to bet in one of those games we will face a huge early deficit.

The longer we control the ball, the less opportunities Brees will have at his disposal to score on us. We need to play to our strengths. If Romo finds great success vs. their secondary, it's conceivable we'll do both pass and run equally as well. I just hope we'll find their defense to be just as wanting as it's being reported to be.

True but Dallas fell behind early so main thing was putting points on the board and trying to cut the score down before half knowing we would get the ball to open the 2nd half. Dallas was able to get 7 them defense got a fumble recovery and Cowboys put up 3 going to half at 10 to 21, open the 2nd half score your back in the game Dallas did to make it 17 to 21 and now was back in the game. I think if you are going to abandon a game plan make that adjustment at half.

Give Tony Seattle's D and we would be SB bound, no doubt in my mind. Right now Wilson has a good good shot at a 2nd ring this yr, WHY...Because he has a defense where he can just drive the dus.

If I heard correct, 10 of Murray's first 15 runs went for 0 or negative yards. In the past, after 2 maybe 3 minus runs meant Air Romo for the rest of the game. We were down 3 scores despite the run game eating up chunks of yards, but we kept pluggin. There is no need for Air Romo ever again, regardless of score. This team is built for Ground Murray and Make em pay Dez.

Romo is no longer the catalyst that he once was and once over relied upon. To make it simpler for you, I broke it down like this. Wes beta off runnin Dan passin dis yur and Killin da klock dan subjektin ours defence to Mo playin times.
