In your opinion, if Watkins was back there playing centerfield for the Cowboys on the Monday night game against the Deadskins last year(an experienced Watkins that is) does he make a play on both Moss deep touchdown catches in the 1st Washington game last year?

IMO, he does. Wiliams runs 4.53 with 30' veritcal, and Watkins 4.42 with 41' vertical. Not to mention, RW was inches from knocking both passes down, so that's an INT or knock down if Watkins was back there..

Cowboys win this game.

Heck yeah. I think those 2 plays cost us the season, also gave Washington and un needed cure to their awful offense, because before those 2 plays, they were trash offensively. After that, they knew who their weapon was.

It should not have matter who was back there. It was mis-communication on the part of the guys in the secondary. These guys are taught from Jr. High through the College that you don't let the WR get behind you in that situation. At worst you let the WR catch the ball in front of you and tackle him but you don't let him get by you.

If our FS had ANYTHING to do with that play, would people ever let it go?

The play still happens. Unless that was K. Davis playing deep.

Maybe we should wait and see if watkins can play before we start talking about "What ifs" about past game results?

Who knows if it would have happened. What I do know is that it didn't.

Should be a good series this year with both team's spirits raised.

Both times Moss beat us, it was Aaron Glenn and Roy Williams that got burned. Moss wasn't Keith Davis' responsibility, as he was playing the other side of the field.

So it would have turned out the same way, since it was Glenn and Roy that got burned.

Yes it still happens. Because Watkins right now is not better than Davis and you can't say for certain that he ever will be. He could be a lazy bum for all we know.

It still happens. He would not have been near the ball. Cowboys still have the nickelback on the field, and Aaron Glenn still gets beat.

The thing I still don't get..
Why was Glenn covering Moss on those 2 plays instead of Newman..?
When the skins saw Glenn at CB, they some how took advantage of the situation ..

I would easily say he is better in coverage than Killer and the scouting reports and draft gurus would too...The knock on the kid is he rarely played as well as he is capable of...NOT that he couldn't play:D

Watkins potential is here :star:

level of play here :star:

Killers potential in coverage here :D

level of coverage play here :bang2:

Watkins dissapointing seasons are better than Killers;)

Because Dallas puts Newman at the slot position which is more difficult to defend and has Glenn line up at Newman's normal spot on the outside. I would prefer they put Newman on the other teams best receiver.

with Watkins size 6-5 and 4.40 speed I don't see it happening... he's a better cover safety then Roy Williams...

You guys dont get the defense we ran that play, We were running the Cover 3 zone if im not mistaken, so there's a center fielder in this play, but theres also a right and left feilder. Now Glenn Was playing right, Roy was Center, Henry was Left.(if your looking from the offensive side). Now Newman is put in slot in nickel situations. (which was why glenn was in obviously) and therefore he was covering the flats on his side. Davis, was playing sort of a middle zone(intermediate passes)Therefore he had no impact on the play. Now the passes to Moss were basically "hit into the gap in right center" if you want to put it in baseball terms lol. So it was Glenn and Roys Fault. Glenn Should of realized there was no one else on his side of the field and Roy should have realized the speed of moss could hurt them. Glenn also mad a bad playon the ball during the first one

We have a kicker worth a damn is still doesn't matter what Moss does or doesn't do and we win.
