How do we not find ways to get this guy the ball? It's ridiculous! Calvin, Marshall, Green and all other elite receivers have been seeing double coverage their entire career, but their coaches work around that and get the ball to them. Romo is so concerned with his stats that he doesn't even try to give Dez a chance. I feel bad for Dez; deserves to be on a better team.

I would trade Dez for picks in a heartbeat. Not because I dont like the guy but because Romo and crew will be out in two more years and we need to build the next iteration of this team the right way.

Starting now everyone is on the block.

I've had my fill of the "Poor Dez" threads.

"I feel bad for Dez" threads.

"Dez should go play for some else who appreciates him" threads.

"Without Dez we are nothing" threads.

Have you considered for a moment that Dez has a part to play in all of this?

Maybe it's injury, maybe the supposed inability to learn the playbooks / routes, or maybe he just isn't playing up to his potential?

I'm not saying it's any one of those things, however, Dez Bryant, the man who could walk on water, the Dez Bryant -- nobody loves the game more than him, mantra -- week after week after week is craziness.

He is a top 10 WR IMHO -- currently ranked like 17th in the NFL in receiving yards/game for WRs. If was truly the #2 WR in the NFL in terms of potential like so many people think he is -- then I'd expect him to produce more -- just like all the other top WRs in the league -- many of them with QBs not as good as Romo.

so you would trade a 24 year old receiver to start the rebuilding process?

That would make the rebuilding process even longer because you'd have to redraft a player like Dez. Im not sure that's how you rebuild. Seems like it would be a better move to start getting rid of the older guys with bigger contracts by trading or releasing.

How can he produce if the ball isn't even thrown to him? We've seen what he can do. For the umpteenth time, he isn't be used right here. If he goes elsewhere, he will be much more successful than what we have seen so far -- but seeing him elsewhere would kill me.

When you need a franchise qb which we are going to need why not sacrafice a reciever?

Dez is a special talent but I dont know if hes a player you build a franchise around imo.

Dez has been targeted more times (90) than 4 other WRs who have more yards then him in DeSean Jackson, D. Thomas, Jordy Nelson, and Torrey Smith.

In fact, the only guys who has been targeted a large percentage more than Dez is AJ Green.

His production per target isn't Top 3 -- it is more like top 8-12.

Again, good WR -- but for crying out loud enough of the "Poor Dez" whining. Stop acting like the guy walks on water -- he has a part to play in all of this -- good AND bad.

You had me until you started saying that Romo is so concerned with his stats that he won't throw Dez the ball. Did he tell you that? Have you ever once heard Romo talk about his personal stats? You are WAY off base there.
Dez actually gets targeted alot...but also gets taken out of games almost entirely.

As for the team--coaches and Romo--needing to find more creative ways to get Dez the ball...I 100% agree with you there.

FWIW, you mentioed three great WRs that know how to play all three WR positions.
That is not Dez right now. They are all way, way ahead of him as route-runners.
Of course, that too really is at least partly the coaches fault.

Ok, but trading Dez to acquire picks doesn't guarantee and franchise QB. Its not that simple.

Never in the history of any sport has any player said "I'm more concerned about my stats". It's my perspective from his very conservative style of play. No longer a gun slinger.

Iis hard to agree with that... sorry, Dez talent is some what being wasted here in terms of how he's used. Im not buying that whole, "Dez needs to learn the play book," excuse to justify the fact we dont use the best player on the team. Ive tried not to criticize Romo to much because every player makes mistake and miss throws here and there, but Romo has got to let it fly some times. Let he make a play.

It doesnt matter if you think that other top receivers quarterbacks are better than Romo, they throw the ball the ball...

Are dez targets catchable? Like that romo whiff last night. Anybody thinking dez isn't second to Calvin isn't paying attention. Marshall was single covered on both of his Tds as was Calvin this week. Teams know they can call their defense from the huddle as (double dez) because they know where he will be. Learn the game perrykemp

And what about d Thomas three Tds was something special? Denver puts him in position to take advantage of guys with his talents. Where is dez screen passes? But we throw them to Witten. Lol guys with issues with Dez are the old senile cowboy fans that have an issue with dez personality.

Because Garrett isn't innovative enough to know how to use Dez. He is a tremendous talent that we should be using as many ways as humanly possible.

90 targets for Dez.

This is the list of guys ahead of him the receiving ranking and their targets:

119 AJ Green
96 Clavin Johnson
86 Desean Jackson
96 Andre Johnson
93 Antonio Brown
99 Pierre Garcon
80 D. Thomas
93 Brandon Marshall
72 Jordy Nelson
84 Torrey Smith

Other than AJ Green, all of these guys are bunched in 90s of targets and a few less than that.

The idea that Dez isn't getting targets is a fallacy -- he is right there on par with the top 10 ranked WRs in the NFL.

I agree -- he is quite possibly the 2nd most physically gifted WR in the NFL.

And he is getting plenty of targets (90).

So why all the "Poor Dez" whining?
