Never in the history of any sport has any player said "I'm more concerned about my stats". It's my perspective from his very conservative style of play. No longer a gun slinger.

A lot of them talk about their stats. He never has. That's all I'm saying.
I know garrett harped (even publically) about the turnovers, so yes, it would not surprise me if he has reeled it in some. But this has nothing to do with making himself look good--which is how I read that section of your post.

90 targets for Dez.

This is the list of guys ahead of him the receiving ranking and their targets:

119 AJ Green
96 Clavin Johnson
86 Desean Jackson
96 Andre Johnson
93 Antonio Brown
99 Pierre Garcon
80 D. Thomas
93 Brandon Marshall
72 Jordy Nelson
84 Torrey Smith

Other than AJ Green, all of these guys are bunched in 90s of targets and a few less than that.

The idea that Dez isn't getting targets is a fallacy -- he is right there on par with the top 10 ranked WRs in the NFL.

In fairness, though. The last few games his targets have been a bit sparse. That said, I do agree with your overall point about the woe is Dez nonsense. If the offense was truly clicking, Dez would get his and more. The offense is sputtering and nobody is getting theirs.

Well, Witten is getting quite a few thrown at his feet, LOL.

I've had my fill of the "Poor Dez" threads.

"I feel bad for Dez" threads.

"Dez should go play for some else who appreciates him" threads.

"Without Dez we are nothing" threads.

Have you considered for a moment that Dez has a part to play in all of this?

Maybe it's injury, maybe the supposed inability to learn the playbooks / routes, or maybe he just isn't playing up to his potential?

I'm not saying it's any one of those things, however, Dez Bryant, the man who could walk on water, the Dez Bryant -- nobody loves the game more than him, mantra -- week after week after week is craziness.

He is a top 10 WR IMHO -- currently ranked like 17th in the NFL in receiving yards/game for WRs. If was truly the #2 WR in the NFL in terms of potential like so many people think he is -- then I'd expect him to produce more -- just like all the other top WRs in the league -- many of them with QBs not as good as Romo.

This.
Truth hurts, I know.

Well, Witten is getting quite a few thrown at his feet, LOL.

There's that.., but there was a tweet about him complaining because he was wide open on a play where Romo threw it away or something. So he might be more PC about it, but he's not happy.

I saw a thread earlier about the decline of Witten. It's funny, because with Dez, he's not getting enough targets. With Witten, his numbers are down because he's getting old.

How about the offense just ain't firing on all cylinders right now and nobody is getting their numbers?

It's pretty bad when Collinsworth is questioning JG's scheme like many of us here have done berfore. Collinsworth should know since he played WR.

It's mind boggling why they don't put Dez in motion or use the stack/bunch formation more when they double/triple team him.

Notice the biggest pass play of the night came when Romo improvised to get Dez in the slot.

Thats another thing I'm tired of hearing regarding Dez. For the last couple weeks people keep posting these ridiculous number of targets stats.

What and number of people including myself have posted plenty of time was that hes not being used in a way that maximizes his potential. Romo throwing Dez the ball to Dez for a 3 or 4 yard gain on 3 and 8 is not the same as Stafford throwing a jump ball to megatron for a 50 yard gain but both are one target.... Like I said, I'm not buying it. I've posted many times before that not turning the ball over is important but Romo has to trust Dez can make a play, I'll live with a couple picks, that's something that's unavoidable.

OP got it right.

Romo won't risk throwing to the outside because they are more dangerous passes. Either he's trying to protect his stats or Garrett ruined him.

I tend to believe he's trying to avoid scrutiny, like that which has been placed on him in the past.

All i have to do is watch the NFL All 22, to see that Romo is missing a wide open guy down field nearly every set of downs.
