Everyone is complaining about Cooley abusing Roy. How about Witten? How are teams covering him? He seemed to draw a lot of attention out there tonight and still caught 8 passes and all that attention he got helped TO. Is there a safety out there who can cover Witten one on one? NO! A LB that can cover Witten one-on-one? No. Are you going to put a CB on Witten?Cut Roy a little slack. These WR/TE hybrids are difficult to cover. Shockey, Cooley, Witten: these guys are good.

Enough of the ripping on Roy. Let's enjoy the abuse Witten is dishing out to opposing teams.

Point is: How do you cover Witten? Is there a safety out there that can do it alone? No. A LB? No. And if you shade coverage too much to Witten, you leave TO on a mismatch. Tell me who can cover Witten one-on-one? And Cooley didn't have that better of a game than Witten statistically.

There are safeties that play better in pass coverage. That's more of an opinion than fact. But if you're going to play safety in the NFL you have to be able to play the pass including TEs. We don't just give up and concede 8-12 passes for 70-120 a game. But you're right. Guys like Witten, Gates and Cooley are trouble.

If you're going to get drafted in the top ten and get a huge contract then you have to play up to it. Or get picked on.

It's not all Roy. It's just a little too much of him and others. Hamlin is not much better in coverage. But he doesn't make much money, has a one year contract and cost us zero draft choices. It's just the nature of the beast.

Our usual player who would have been covering Witten wasn't in the lineup today. I can't recall how there matchups have gone in the past, but the looks we showed today would have been different then in other circumstances

Yeah, and the offensive looks we showed were different that what we would have if Terry Glenn was healthy. Please.

Elite Tes are guys that cant be covered by a LB or Safety. Cooley, Witten, Gates, Gonalez, and others are elite and prove to be unfair to teams.

I didn't notice the 2 lining up across from one another.

Why not wait to see who is the starting TE for the NFC this year.

I love the excuse "We didn't have Taylor so we sucked".

Like they'd give us some kind of handicap because Newman isn't 100%, Henry is less then Newman and Reeves just started his 10th game.

He's that good.

You didn't get the memo?

it would have been funny to watch Sean Taylor get turned around for peeking into the middle of the field at Witten

Cooley (8 for 89)

Cooley actually had seven catches for 84 yards. They're giving him credit for one of Ladell Betts' catches, but they should correct that at some point.

And only four of Cooley's catches came against Roy. The two early ones in front of Roy in Cover 2 when the linebackers blew their zones, and 7- and 10-yard passes against soft zones late in the game. Cooley's other catches came against Ware and Ayodele, plus a dumpoff pass coming out of the backfield.

Are you serious? Show me one game where Roy was "perfect". Show me one game that Roy did either A) Get burned in coverage multiple times or B) whiff on a solo tackle

If you're thinking Taylor, he definitely could have covered Witten, but I don't think he would. All of Williams's comments about T.O's TDs indicated they needed Taylor in deep patrol.

He's having a great year, but he can't play everywhere. If he covered Witten, TO still would have had the huge game.
