Twitter: Witten addresses whether Cowboys should play for draft pick

As much as I have given up hope, I will take the playoffs and a first round exit over a top 5 pick. But, my problem lies in between those extremes. In no way do I want Dallas to win a couple more meaningless games giving them a pick around #10.

Dallas is far closer to the overall pick than a playoff birth. Either lose out or win out........................I do not want anything in-between!

Those Salvation army santas have a stash of cash, sounds like a good target for ya!

Is this true? It sounds like something somebody made up just to have an excuse to sack the Salvation Army Santas.

I really tire of you draft dork posers.

winning does matter. it always will matter. winning the rest of our games and getting a worse draft pick is a better scenario then losing and getting a higher pick.
The really odd thing to me is almost to a man these posters rail on the incompetence of the front office and yet want to tank games to give them a chance to draft the "right " player.

There are no guarantees with a draft pick. I'd rather win the division and get at least one more game to watch this season. That would give us 2 division titles in a row. Win it next year and then it would be 3 in a row. Its time we start winning the division every season and restore the NFC East and this year is as good as any year to begin that process.

Even without playoffs winning out would be a tremendous confidence boost to our young team.

The Panthers started last year winning only 3 of the first 12. They won their final four though and have been upfront how much that helped them going into 2015

Players should play to win, fans on the other hand are going to root for what they think is best and right now that feels like a top 5 draft pick to me.

If they win a few games it would probably be better for the team, because if theyre in the 10-15 range they draft Ezekiel Elliot IMO

I don't really want to fight him.
Though, I normally do want to fight any adult male I see wearing a Santa Hat if he's not actually Santa or a mall Santa, or doing a play about Santa or something like that.

What is that red thing in your avatar wearing? Hmmmm?

What does Jason Witten say to those who think the Cowboys should just play for a better draft pick?

AMEN!
- All the naysayers thinking otherwise: here's your answer.

Well they've got a right to have an opinion just like anybody else but player talk falls on deaf ears for me. You fight, fight, fight, show your character, never give up, believe and whatever other meaningless crap you can drum up. Your team has no shot and I hope you lose out to maximize our draft ammo.

It'd be pretty damn sweet to have the top pick overall.

Loser mentality... go be a Commanders fan. You will fit right in
