"There is legitimate logic to the idea that Witten’s presence inhibited the growth of Blake Jarwin in 2019, and perception around the NFL seems to be that he doesn’t exactly help create a fostering environment for younger players at the position."
So I guess they did not hire him to foster their younger players! lol
Gruden has something in mind for him to sign him. Could be a third down only player. and maybe some redzone targets.
Witten did catch several td passes last year.
I think witten needs to realize his days of being a star fulltime player are over, and he needs to be part time specialist.
He could play for years to come if he accepted that and worked hard to be good at that.

It’s amazing to me there are still fans that think a starting TE in today’s NFL averaging 8.9 and 8.4 YPC his last two seasons is still viable.
At the end of last year, I truly believe it got to where defenses left him unaccounted for...

knowing that once he caught a ball, squared up, looked around, then got chugging in those cement shoes, any LB or DB could be there before he got anywhere.

At least that's what it looked like.

He wouldnt have made the Raiders if there was a real camp.

They probably want him as a coach and that isnt the worst scheme I've ever seen.

it's amazing how some people try to hate on JW. 8/

yep. this really is identical to Emmitt Smith. Cowboys fans are in general Awful.

Sitting in the stadium while Emmitt was booed that october vs the Cardinals is still maybe the sorriest thing I experienced as a fan at a home game.

I bet he plays. He isnt that bad.
And about being a coach, he does not seem like he would be good at that.

he is not crying he is answering a question that was asked to him as he has always done.

This situation is very much like Emmitt in 03. Parcells did not want players running to Emmitt to ask if this is how it was done and then have Emmitt not be on Parcells side.

I feel like this is very similar. McCarthy has to be the top dog in the locker room and everyone needs to follow him. Peculiarly McCarthy has brought none of "his" players here with him which is usually page 1 of the head coach manual. I am sure he didn't want Witten telling guys in the locker room they are doing things wrong.

Also two subtle things, probably not of any real matter but Witten is a known Packers hater...He let it be known he did not like them and I am sure he is not the biggest fan of McCarthy. He seemed to not be a big fan of Kellen Moore either.
My bad, you need to stop crying. You have more excuses for Witten than a dead horse has flies.

Excuses? What excuses? excuses for what? I have no idea what you are even talking about.

He's chucky's concern now. I don't see him as a prototypical las vegas kind of guy.

Per BTB:

https://www.bloggingtheboys.com/202...t-him-returning-to-the-dallas-cowboys-in-2020

Jason Witten says there were talks about him returning to the Cowboys in 2020

I expect there were talks. The Cowboys signed Jarwin March 16. Witten signed with the Raiders on March 17.

Clearly, Jarwin was their preferred choice, but they had no contract. Looks like Witten wanted to stay, but had been making contingency plans, and when Jarwin was signed, Witten pulled the trigger.

he has good hands. Rarely drops a pass.

made a killing on that TE option route.

HoF player.

hated by some on this board. Loved by others.
I don’t get how you could hate a guy that would play with the grit and determination of a Green Beret but to each his own. Yeah, he wore out his welcome. Doesn’t take away from what he DID accomplish on the field. Cowboys fans that hate on Romo and Witt need to learn some appreciation.

Yep. As slow as a salted slug but he still managed to get open. Still managed to get open down the seam in the redzone too.
That was always Wittens game,, he exploited a weak zone.
Jarwin has a great opportunity now, better than Witten ever had.
With these 3WRs, Jarwin should be feeling pretty good about his opportunities.
