Witten

We haven't had a TE that was capable of filling his shoes since he lost a step so of course he's going to fight to stay on the field. Wanting him to take a lesser role means we need a TE that can do what he has done in the past and we don't have that player. Rico Gathers was suppose to get more experience but he's been sidelined with a concussion and Swain and Hanna, while both competent TEs, do not have the ceiling to fill Witten's shoes. Witten will be back next season to continue his mentorship of the TEs so maybe his heir apparent will finally show up then.

His leadership off the field is something the fans need to take into consideration when evaluating what he means to this teams success. He is the modern day Mr. Cowboy and anyone that visits the Star in Frisco will understand that reality is very apparent there. Once he retires, I see him coaching at his alma mater Tennessee for a while and then being asked by some lucky team in the NFL to coach. I hope that team is the Cowboys. He'd be the type of coach the players respect and will give everything they have to play for.

We need to develop a fast TE and someone like Gaithers. That means less snaps for him.
