I just went back and watched the replay. He had no chance of catching (even if he dived) to catch that ball. I'm just going to chalk this observation up as "he's on your fantasy team, and that TD would have won you this weeks head to head".

Did you notice the huge block he had on Williams that sprung JJ for his big gain? Witten is having a good year.

Geez, I don't want Witten diving for footballs... He had found the soft spot in coverage in the middle of the field and he didn't need to stretch further... Bledsoe has been less than accurate all season... The only receiver he is mentally in tune with is Glenn and he missed him a couple of times yesterday.

No offense, but either you are watching a different play than everyone else, or you are trying to see something negative from Witten. The ball was a good 5-7 YARDS away from him on that play. It was a horrible throw by Bledsoe. Witten was all alone, and Bledsoe had plenty of time on the play, but he made a bad throw, plain and simple. Drew made some other good throws, but he missed Witten badly on that play. He also missed him badly on another 2nd half throw where Witten was wide open. Drew threw it over his head by about 5 feet and it was over the wrong shoulder.

It seems to me they just aren't in sinc, but it'll happen.

Yea, the last thing I thought on that play was that Witten had any chance at that pass.
He is what, 6'5", and he couldn't of caught it he laid out completely.
It was high and outside. If it had been a pitch in the NLCS runners would of scored.

I give up!!! Your right. Witten is spectacular this year and it is all Bledsoes fault. I forgot the theme of this board...

:lmao: you are going to have to show me where I wrote that. I mean I went back through my post to see if by some weird series of events my words could have come out that way, but no. I said on the play in question, Bledsoe made a horrible throw. Go watch the play again and you will see that it is OBVIOUSLY a poor throw. There was absolutely NOTHING Witten could have done to catch that ball, other than becoming plastic man and extending his arms 5 yards away from his body!

this pic was posted elswhere... great stuff... running play (nice adjustments Drew LOL)
http://i30.***BLOCKED***/albums/c333/marv41/HPIM1408.jpg

he can't throw the ball to himself can he?

yeah, there is also a little more to that picture then what is seen....1. The Texans had too many people on the field so Drew was trying to get the play off to get free yards........what an idiot that Drew Bledsoe is....Some of you will do anything you can to throw a little mud in Drews face.....its pretty sickening at times 2. Because Witten was trotting out there, he got flagged for a penalty for not being set....In the end, the play was offset and redone. Would it have even made any difference if drew popped up and threw the ball to Witten anyway.....nope.

Im more worried about Wittens health. After his catch and run late in the game he got up a little shaken......look like he smacked his head and the trainers were looking at him. Not only are his catches down but his blocking isn't where it should be either...

once again jason is on about the same pace as last year. he has had multiple catches called back for penalties. he has had 2 end zone opportunities.
1. called back for penalty.
2. last weeks debacle.

he will catch touchdowns. you all know it is true.

there are 11 games left. I figure he will catch around 5 tds.
at his current pace he is just off last years numbers by about 10 catches and 120-140 yards.

it isnt that significant of a drop off. especially when we have owens- 4td
glenn 3 td.
it isnt a big deal.

julius and barber have combined for 6 rushing touchdowns too. last year they finished with 10 total.

so this whole mess about witten is a waste of time.
do defenses pay attention to witten?
is he a problem for defenses?
is he a threat?

the answer to all of them is yes. I am sure he will have some big games.

WHAT??? That was catchable. The announcers thought it was tipped and that is why he pulled up. Replay showed it was very catchable... He did not give all his effort.

I thought so at the time as well, or at least Jason should have made some effort to get to the ball. Others here claim it was all on Drew but Jason didn't seem to make much of an effort to get to it.

Was that Witten who sealed off Mario on the long run by JJ?

I actually thought that was Curtis.

If that was Witten it's the best block he's thrown in a while.

If you have TIVO go watch it again! The announcers thought it was tipped because it was so far off target. As a matter of fact, after they determined it WASN'T tipped (while watching the replay) the announcer said something to the effect of "It wasn't tipped, Bledsoe just missed that one".

He pulled up because it wasn't catchable. Watch it again!

That was my interpretation of the play, as well. Never once did it cross my mind he wasn't selling out for it.

He's simply slower than a Glenn or Owens on a route like that. I don't think there's much else he could have done.

Are you guys kidding me about Witten???

He has stayed in to block far more this year then last year...it's hard to catch balls when you have to stay in for MAX-PROTECT...my he!!.

Both Fasano and Witten are being SEVERELY under utilized because they have to stay in and block.

Until Witten can go out and run patterns I'd hold off on how his production has gone down...yeah...of course it will :bang2:

Yeah, I agree.

You could really make this "statistical decline" argument for nearly every player on the offense. Witten, Fasano, Julius and Owens have all dropped balls. Receiving wise, Witten and Owens have "declined" and Fasano has never been used other than against Washington. Is Glenn even on pace to match last year's 1,000-yard total?

Julius' running stats are way up and there are so many receiving threats that it's gonna be impossible for us to have three-plus 800-yard receivers this year. I think that's much more likely at this point than Fasano being a bust, Witten having "contractitus" as suggested, Owens being less skilled than advertised, etc.

LOL. On the diving note, imagine if he gets hurt diving for some ball he has no chance to catch? I can see the responses now: "What the hell was Witten doing? Does the guy have no sense for where the football is?"

And as for the post earlier this thread about Witten being soft....well, he did get hurt yesterday and still return a few plays later, didn't he -- despite the game being a blowout?

How can Witten be on pace for 5 TD's when he hasn't scored any TD's so far this year? He may finish the season with 5 TD's, but right now he is on pace for 0 TD's.

he may have none officially, but Bledsoe was the cause of not having at least one or two, and a bad official call cost him one in the Jacksonville game

he'll get 4-6 before the yr is out

I've been trying to say this for the past 3 weeks. witten is not playing well.

uh, what exactly is he not doing?

when your QB is completing barely half his passes and you have an Owens and Glenn at WR, along with a run game thats getting a ton of yards, just how many balls do you think Witten would be seeing and would thus be "playing well" ???

Is Bledsoe also at fault for the balls Witten has dropped, hell is Bledsoe responsible for world hunger too?
