If you are talking about at the beginning of training camp, I say keep it open like it is. For a lot of fans, the first few days of training camp are often the only time you get to see your team beginning to take shape, and just what that entails.

If you are saying to allow even more fan access, than no I would have voted not to allow greater access.

When they have 80 players and they are just ramping up, I don't see how it could be a hindrance to the team.

The thread about the secrecy surrounding The Razorback has me wondering how you all would feel. Training Camp is an event. I think we can all agree with that. We enjoy it. We enjoy the practice reports. I think we all really enjoy the DMN blogs.

How would you feel if the next Head Coach insisted on privacy? No fans or media at any of the practices?

Would you consider that a competitive advantage that you could support?

Or would you think it was unnecessary and a waste of time?

I'll tell you, all the hoopla coming from the media and fans the first two weeks of camp had me excited, and then my hopes were dashed when the first pre-season game looked so bad.

Maybe it is just as good that we don't get our hopes too high.

I'm all for anything to help the team, so count me among those that would be ok with closing the practices.

I'm not sure it would help, but at least it would be a sign that the W-L column was the most important thing in the world to the front office.

The Razorback wont be a secret...every team now has it in their playbook (under their own name) and every defense is now ready for it.

Why not close the draft to the public? Preseason games? Hell, just close all media to the team. I mean let’s keep it all secret.

Oh look hyperbole. Must mean you don't get it.

I would not mind at all if there was a closed camp. The "element of surprise" will always give you an advantage.

Plus, it would be more exciting (at least for me) to watch them come out for their first pre-season game...not knowing what was going on during camp.

A Military analogy...they don't let any family watch Basic Training. If football is "war"...let's do it right!

Complete secrecy is unnecessarily restrictive. Many fine teams have been assembled without draconian security. Placating a paranoid head coach doesn't translate into wins.

Speaking of paranoid coaches, Parcells had some basic rules and understandings with the media concerning what could and could not be reported. I think he struck a reasonable balance between media exposure and confidentiality, although I didn't like his gag rule on assistant coaches.

Approve of it because it would mean an advantage and discipline
Since you put the word "discipline" in there that makes this a easy call for me.

Wow. I'm surprised so many approve of private practices. The reason I look forward to training camp is because of all the coverage, media blogs, fan blogs, vids and pics. I realize that these things do not help the team win, but do they really hurt? The players seem to enjoy the attention. According to Star Mag, 100% of the players have signed autographs at least once on their way off the field. Some of them sign often - Miles Austin was mentioned.

If it is in fact a distraction, then obviously practices should be closed. But I've yet to hear a player complain about it. Besides, what would Mrs. Price do if camp was closed?

well played there BMC? she would still be heard from the parking lot I'm sure

if coaches want to hide specific plays from the wandering eye, they just have to be a little creative about it

How big is the motel lobby they're staying at in SA I wonder?
