Xavier isnt a bad FS but he is a really good tackler & hits hard....would moving him to SS and grabbing a FS be a better option? There are 2-3 good FA fs avail & Windfield or Delpit in draft?

Woods is interchangeable so that is a good thing. He played both last season with Heath.

I am a bigger fan of Winfield Jr. than I am of Delpit. My knock on Winfield is he seems a bit injury prone. Now they are mostly more serious injuries which can happen to anybody. But that’s my big knock on him.

Delpits played regressed. He didn’t seem to want to tackle much. That is scary in a division when you get Barkley (6’0, 234) Guice (5’11, 225), Sanders (5’11, 211).

I would prefer Winfield at FS and Woods to go to SS

I think Woods can play both positions at about the same level, plus he looks good when he's dropped down into the slot. He's a good player, just not a standout.

I'm still watching DB tape, but I'm liking Xavier McKinney if we go that route. He's also a guy who can play SS and FS equally well, but his best fit is probably SS because he can do some great stuff closer to the line. That gets Heath put on spot duty as the 3rd safety, which I'm absolutely fine with.

Delpit.... ehhh, not a fan.

Woods doesn't have the length and speed to play FS and he can't tackle so he shouldn't play SS.

I actually like him as a nickel CB and think that is his best position.

We need an upgrade at both S spots...badly.

I'm a fan of McKinney myself. Think he could be a darn good SS.

What don't you like about Delpit? I think he could be equally as good as a FS and he's so good in coverage good give us nickel/dime slot CB reps.

The Boys’ safety issues were on full display this season especially w/Heath. Woods has proved to be a keeper but Delpit would give the Cowboys a playmaker they desperately need.

If Delpit is on the board at 17, MM and the Cowboys would be crazy not to take him. Keep the Cowboys young & talented. BOOM!

He is a hybrid S/CB too me. I think his best place would be in subpackages in the NFL

Agree that we need to upgrade both safety positions in a bad way

we had the chance to get Earl Thomas in FA last year but “we already have Heath and Woods” LOL

we need a real player at one (preferably FS) safety position and if the scouts think Delpit is that you take him unless Kinlaw is there

I think DAL should go get a veteran S in FA that one of these new coaches can vouch for...then draft another S with a premium pick in the draft.

X Woods seemed more impactful as a sub package DB. #25 has some versatility and makes some plays, but it's irresponsible to head into another with him being a clear cut starter. If McClay can't find a Slot CB, Woods can fill that role.

I can potentially live with Heath as a fourth safety and ST player.

I have ZERO use for anyone else on this roster at that position.

It's a serious weakness, and it ought to be given how the position has been treated by management.

Vonn Bell is a cheaper FA or poss A Harris from Viks

Adding to your list (kinda want Bell): CB/S Damarius Randall (McCarthy), FS HaHa Clinton-Dix (McCarthy) and FS Jimmy Ward (Tomsula).

I just looked at the UFA list and there's no excuse for Stephen n McClay to not ink an adequate starter.

Wants:
Justin Simmons (free agency), Jamal Adams (blockbuster trade), Karl Joseph (free agency), Grant Delpit (draft), Ashtyn Davis (draft), Terrell Burgess (draft).

Delpit's got good ball skills, but he struggles with tackling and looks to me like an average athlete. I think he's Eric Reid; a decent safety with the versatility to play FS and SS, but not a game changer.

The Combine will be fun to see though. I haven't watched any of his 2018 tape, but apparently he was a way different guy that season and played most of 2019 with an injury that was bothering him. If he's healthy, he may test like a stud.
