News: Woodson Among HOF Semifinalists

Wish the Cowboys had a safety like Woodson on their current roster.

You know seeing the Cowboy’s safety dilemma all these years will probably give him a boost. Few years ago I wouldn’t have put Woodson in there but after Dawkins got in and Lynch probably about to get in. Woodson should be a lock imo.

Jimmy's downfall will be that he was a short timer.

Exactly, I thought Madden getting in was going to help with that but so far no good. Maybe if Jimmy coached one more year.

Dang right. I think Woodson is long over due. Woody is my all time favorite safety for the Cowboys. The man could play FS, FS, CB, slot CB and all three LBs postions. The man was a stud every time he stepped onto the field.

Vote for Woodson.

Woody should have been in before both of them...The fact that Lynch gets in before Woodson is so ridiculous and complete bs...Their stats are very similar ...Woodson has more Superbowls..and he was a large piece of all three...He revolutionized the position by being able to cover the slot...play lb, bone crushing hitter....Lynch couldn't do all that...

This is my point. Safeties like Woodson, Lynch or Dawkins used to not get HOF nods. I’m saying if they are now then put Woodson in.

Won 2 Super Bowls and 80% of his roster won a 3rd one.

Turned NFL draft on its head.

Took dumpster fire of a franchise and dominated the 90s.

No way Jerry Jones should be in there and Jimmy should not.
Fans may want it, but he won't get credit for the 3rd one, And, like it or not, the HOF likes to see success over time. Only players that get injured and can't play on get consideration as short timers.

I think the difference is Madden was successful his entire career and had a 103-32 record, and Jimmy had the shorter, but brilliant stretch with Dallas, and ended with an 80-64 record. Of course, Madden inherited a team in better shape than Jimmy did, but the success over the length of a career will play a big part in how voters perceive the two.

Had the Dolphins improved when Jimmy took the job there he would have had a better chance, but if anything the Dolphins regressed a little.

Woodson was one of my favorite players during the Jimmy Johnson era.
We might very possibly never see his like again at the safety spot.

I remain hopeful that he'll rightfully be rewarded with his due recognition.
