Be careful.
Once you start adding... well... ya know...

How old are you?

When I was 25 I added 20lbs while working out. Once I hit 30 that became and issue(as with alot of people as they get older) 10 years of struggling still follows... all in the abs.

My advice(which I only throw out there)... is to work out and cut/rip - supedefine what you have and let it ride.

You will thanks me when you are in your mid 30's

couldnt agree more

When i was young i couldnt gain much weight, i ate whatever i wanted all the time, my arms got real big from lifting and i got some width to my lats but i just couldnt add bulk to my chest, shoulders or frame. got pretty strong and my muscles were developed but i couldnt bulk up.

eventually i did put some weight on but a some of it was fat, i injured my shoulder and couldnt lift for a while. I lost some of the muscle because i had to stop lifting, but the fat stayed and it didnt look so bad when i was lifting but after the muscle atrophied, i was like -what is this ?!?

i started running and biking a lot and lost it all and was pretty ripped for a while but as i got older i didnt have time to work out as much, i had to work 60 hours a week to pay the bills.

The weight started to creep back a little (beer doesnt help) and now im 39 with a 14 year old and im trying to get back in shape by running but its hard to find the time to really work out, im tired after i get home from my job and there's always something to deal with or someone who needs my time or help.

All I do is workout hard. Take my vitamins and drink a protein shake after my workouts.

I drink one protein shake for breakfast and then one after i work out each day.

Supplements don't go well with my skin.

What you'll want to research is a term called bulking.

I also don't take supplements. I'd rather pay for better food than pay for supplements.

Man I hear ya... your story, my story and many others. NOW I really only workout to RIP/Cut... never for Bulk. I would rather over do the repetitions with less weight than less reps with more weight.
I seem to be wallowing in the Athletic build with a need to constantly work on flattening the stomach. Its a fulltime in and of itself. Discipline is key... but not always easy

Its tough... but do what you can. ANY little bit helps... then you find that you MAKE time for more... in spite of everything else.

Buy a can of protein (doesnt even matter if its the cheap Whey at Walmart) and drink 2 or 3 shakes a day.

Lift and lift often with low reps and heavy weights.

3 sets of all your lifts with 8 reps at a high weight is what i'd do.

Have chest Monday

Biceps triceps tuesday

Take Wednesday off

Thursday legs

Friday Shoulders

eat eat eat eat

Youll be a monster in no time.

What I did to put on mass was to change my diet a little. Instead of three large bowls of rice a day, I eat six small bowls a day. As you can see by my avatar and sig. pic, I've put on quite a bit of weight. I'm up to 108 LBS from 99 LBS.

As far as bulk is concerned, I recommend switching to a shampoo that promises to add body to your hair.

Hope that helps.

:p:;)

No problem.

Its really not that hard either. Just find a hour a day for 4 or 5 days a week to lift heavy.

Everyone should be able to find time to eat too.

Did you miss your back workout? Don't miss your back workout or you look unporportional. Nothing is more intimidating then wide lats.

Drink some muscle milk. Stirs easily and taste pretty decent.

Get married!

Trust me, inside of 6 mths, you'll notice a minimum gain of 20-25 lbs around your house. 'Course, it likely won't be on you Per se.

I would recommend two main things-protein and water. Your muscles are made of protein and water and depend on it. I cannot stress enough the value of enough protein along with proper hydration. It would also benefit you to take Creatine as well along with a multivitamin.

I have worked out and taken quite a few supplements over the years and I find that if you do not have adequate protein and water intake, you won't grow no matter what supplement you consume. This of course is just a start. There is also healthy eating along with proper carb intake as well as BCAAs.
