Worried about CB

Who are Denver/Carolina 3 starters?

Denver has Chris Harris, Aqib Talib, and Bradley Roby. 3 very good-to-elite CB's.

Carolina has the premier CB in the league and not much else, but they have a very good pass rush and 3 LB's who cover a ton of ground.

Cam Sutton
Tavese Calhoun
Ken Crawley

All with size and should be available after round 3.

Cam Sutton is not in the draft.

However, you can get a "starting quality" CB after round 3.

Top starting CBs like Richard Sherman, Chris Harris, Josh Norman, Sam Shields, Jerraud Powers and Malcolm Butler were all chosen after the third round and even undrafted.

The problem is like QBs, most teams do not know how to evaluate the position and panic early thinking that eliminates the chance for error.

It also does not help when teams change defensive systems and tactics year to year. Happened to Dallas when Carr and Claiborne were all for Ryan's preferences then you are stuck with them for the length of the contract.

The solution is to go cheap if you do, and look for flexible players who can adjust and are instinctual. Too much time is spent looking for physical specimens and not enough on skill set, thinking that raw products can be coached up.

I would also send every single corner candidate I am considering through an exhaustive battery of psychological tests. You have to know their mental framework.

Carolina has suffered extensive injuries to their corners and picked up Robert McClain and Courtland Finnegan off the street and started them after a couple of days.

Their systems and scheme are simple and they can just plug and go.
