Worst Airline?

May not be the worst but United has really taken a tumble.

I used to love United. Anymore, they're pretty cruddy.

Landed the other night and then had to sit on the runway for like 30 minutes. For whatever reason, we just sat there. Taxied over to what we thought we be a gate but instead we sit at this spot for 10 minutes and then they just tell us to get off the plane and walk in.

Checking in with United is like pulling teeth if your little card isn't read by the scanner thing. Had like 2 employees just sit there. Neither attempted to help until I directly called them for help.

I've had some bad run-ins with other Airlines but that was usually an exception to how they run. United is just like **** from top to bottom anymore.

Why don't you get back to having another Bacon & Blue burger, chunkstyles.

I can't complain too much as of right now. I haven't had one bad experience on an airline yet (knocks on wood).

I've flown quite a few airlines and United has fallen pretty far. I get delayed on Continental a lot as well.

I think it's impossible to tell. Two flights on a single airline can vary greatly. Customer service all too often simply depends on who you get. Costs are competitive, so it's not like one offers consistently better rates.

Why people would choose any other airline but Southwest is beyond me. It's such a great airline. Cheap too.

Because depending on where you live Southwest is not available. If I want to fly Southwest I have to drive 3 hours to Nashville or 2 hours to Little Rock.

I have flown Southwest many times and I have never had a problem. I maybe one of the few but I like their open seating. I'm always early so I usually get my choice of where I want to sit.

The airline I fly on the most is Northwest (now Delta) because Memphis is a hub city for them.

Do they have Air Tran near you?

Yes but to get anywhere I'd have to stop in Atlanta even if I'm going west. I meaning the company I work has no problem paying a little extra to fly non stop.

Southwest is the best airline and it's not close. I have to fly different airlines all the time and I always lament "Why can't Southwest fly here?"

I wish we could get Southwest in Memphis.

United is not great that is for sure. Even though I bought my tickets through Air Canada last year, as part of the alliance I ended up on United for a flight to Denver and ultimately DisneyWorld.

No blankets or pillows (allegedly because of H1N1 which is scary as it means they didn't wash them in the first place), food service was brutal. The stewardesses sat and read most of the flights.

Worst was them making me weigh my own bags and threatening me with 150 surcharge if I didn't move the stuff between my wife son and my bag so that they were less than 50lb each. I told the guy you people are already ****ing me over charging me to take luggage on a plane and now you are threatening me with more?

I also hate the way they charge for bags because it ensures every cheap *** on the planet takes luggage on board and shoves it in the overhead. If you aren't on first, all the overhead bins are full. On stewardess wanted to move my backpack across the aisle and 4 rows down so that someone could get their pull bag up near them. She was mad when I refused.

Ah the joy of flying.

As for the stewardesses, they were nice enough but damn they were old and pretty ugly.

Most stewardesses are.

A few months ago I was flying Southwest from Nashville to Orlando and sat with a southwest pilot. We got to talking about Southwest and I asked why they are limited on where they fly. He said Southwest's main goal is to provide a great airline at reasonable prices. He said one of the driving factors in cost is what the airlines are charged by the airports to have terminals at the airports. This is one of the reasons that they don't fly into DFW but rather Love Field in Dallas.

He said they refuse to be held hostage by greedy airport authorities and thus, forcing higher fares onto their passengers. He said there had been discussions in the past about trying to expand and changing their policy but it usually never went any further than the initial discussion stage.

Plus, something I didn't know was that, each airline negotiate their own deals with the different airports. SO Delta may have one deal at DFW and United might have another.

Either way, if I can, I will always fly Southwest.

I LOVE JETBLUE. Alas, they stopped serving Nashville.

Southwest is great too. No checked baggage fee is great.

I HATE US AIRWAYS. I have never had a good experience with them. They've twiced had to bring me over to another airport b/c of some crap or another (From BGM to ELM and Newark to JFK), among delays, overbooking, and extremely poor flights (I have motion sickness, and US Airways always gets me sick, the other airlines don't). I even had to stay overnight in Philly the day before my grad school interview because the flight I was on was extremely late and I missed my connection in Philly. That was the last time I flew US Airways.

I usually fly Southwest or Delta out of Nashville. But, I will choose a non-stop flight on Continental/Frontier over SW/Delta any day if I can. Nothing beats not having to transfer/make a connection.
