And, United breaks guitars!

I've had mostly good experiances with Continental, and my godfather, and retired commercial pilot, thought highly of them for their diligence in maintenance. However, they've apparantly started charging for all check through baggage. A shame, because they're an easy shot for the routes I would travel the most.

Southwest is now probably the best, but they don't always go everywhere you need to.

It is a rough time to be an Airline though.

For me at least, the worst was Frontier Airlines.

Southwest is the best.

I absolutely can't stand American. They purposely overbook flights and the only thing that flys out of Amarillo are the Eagles. I hate those little planes.

I love Southwest.

A few months ago I was flying Southwest from Nashville to Orlando and sat with a southwest pilot. We got to talking about Southwest and I asked why they are limited on where they fly. He said Southwest's main goal is to provide a great airline at reasonable prices. He said one of the driving factors in cost is what the airlines are charged by the airports to have terminals at the airports. This is one of the reasons that they don't fly into DFW but rather Love Field in Dallas.

He said they refuse to be held hostage by greedy airport authorities and thus, forcing higher fares onto their passengers. He said there had been discussions in the past about trying to expand and changing their policy but it usually never went any further than the initial discussion stage.

Plus, something I didn't know was that, each airline negotiate their own deals with the different airports. SO Delta may have one deal at DFW and United might have another.

Either way, if I can, I will always fly Southwest.

Until Delta takes away Memphis' hub status we will never see a SWA gate even then I doubt it since they have LR and Nville.

anyone else having a problem with Delta changing flight times on them? I booked my Flight to boston a couple of weeks ago for May, and I've gotten about 4-5 notices of changes. Not small ones, but from a 5pm flight back to a 12pm flight. argh, it's annoying.

Yeah, Frontier is pretty solid for me.

Maybe because I'm too busy watching TV to notice.

United is not great that is for sure. Even though I bought my tickets through Air Canada last year, as part of the alliance I ended up on United for a flight to Denver and ultimately DisneyWorld.

No blankets or pillows (allegedly because of H1N1 which is scary as it means they didn't wash them in the first place), food service was brutal. The stewardesses sat and read most of the flights.

Worst was them making me weigh my own bags and threatening me with 150 surcharge if I didn't move the stuff between my wife son and my bag so that they were less than 50lb each. I told the guy you people are already ****ing me over charging me to take luggage on a plane and now you are threatening me with more?

I also hate the way they charge for bags because it ensures every cheap *** on the planet takes luggage on board and shoves it in the overhead. If you aren't on first, all the overhead bins are full. On stewardess wanted to move my backpack across the aisle and 4 rows down so that someone could get their pull bag up near them. She was mad when I refused.

Ah the joy of flying.

As for the stewardesses, they were nice enough but damn they were old and pretty ugly.

I been on several flights with Continental since it is the main hub here in Houston and I heard the stewardess several times complian because no one is checking baggage and everyone is bringing on bags borderline over the size that they end of checking for free at the door.

I was thinking you got to be kidding me if you where not trying to gouge people for bags it be a non issue.

ryanair are probably the cheapest airline over here in europe but they're a joke. they usually have seperate terminals from the rest of the airport that have next to nothing in them bar one bar selling overpriced sandwiches, microwave food or beer and a duty free shop selling tat from wherever you are.
ticket prices are dirt cheap but it costs you for every bag you want to put in the hold. while you're on the flight you're bombarded with adverts over the PA for anything from food and drink, duty free, scratch cards through to flights. to top it all off the airports they fly to are usually nearly an hour outside of your destination.
last time i flew with them was in january from glasgow to dublin. flight was delayed because of snow, we got boarded 20 minutes after the flight was due to take off and then were sitting on the plane for an hour and a half before the runway was cleared and the plane was de-iced before we could take off. flight to dublin is only 50 minutes but we ended up circling the city for over an hour before the pilot came on the PA to say that dublin airport was closed and we were going back to glasgow. now fair enough you can't blame the airline for the weather but why take off and go through all that if you're not going to be able to land at the other end. what made it more annoying was that it was my birthday and my girlfriend had got me a day trip to dublin as a present and we were back at home by lunchtime.
in saying all that it is rediculously cheap. flew to hamburg and it was about 20% of the price if it flown with BA or someone like that.

I do that. I ****ing hate to pay an additional $50 round trip just for 1 bag. It's ridiculous. I thought it was pretty standard nowadays that Airlines conceded that you could check at the gate if you were smart enough to do so and that they would just feast off the people who haven't caught on yet.

Because depending on where you live Southwest is not available. If I want to fly Southwest I have to drive 3 hours to Nashville or 2 hours to Little Rock.

I have flown Southwest many times and I have never had a problem. I maybe one of the few but I like their open seating. I'm always early so I usually get my choice of where I want to sit.

The airline I fly on the most is Northwest (now Delta) because Memphis is a hub city for them.

Thats the airline I was working for, for a couple of months (Northwest). It was ridiculous here in Lubbock. I never flew anywhere to use my free priveleges because we HAD to fly to Memphis first no matter where I was going because thats the only place we flew into or from.

And their fees for bags....wow.
If I wanted to go to El Paso, I would fly to Memphis, then ELP. It was beyond ridiculous. Not to mention the work sucked ***.

You could have come to Memphis and gotten some real BBQ. I would have even allowed you to pay for mine. :laugh1:
