OK, so let's assume for a minute:
~ We go 3-2 in December and close out the season a respectable 11-5 and NFCE champs and number 3 seed in the tournament.
~ Green Bay just edges Philly for the number 5 seed, making Philly the number 6 seed.

This very realistic scenario means Dallas not only closes the season against Philly (again) but we open the playoffs with a re-match against the hated Eagles the very next week.

Of all the ways for this to play out - I'm not liking this option very much.

Thoughts?
I would hate to play a team a third time in same year especially if we beat them twice. I had that feeling before the Giants game in 2007. What would be ideal is we beat the Eagles to keep them out of the playoffs and get revenge at home againt GB, but I get ahead of myself.......

I'd rather we play Greenbay, for sure, cause I'd hate to have to play Philly 3 times in one year, and especially back to back weeks.

I'm all for an all-or-nothing game against Philly again. If we can't win it, we don't deserve to be there in the first place.
I agree...

Its hard to beat a team twice in a season. Much less 3 times and much less twice on back to back weeks.
The 49ers beat us 45-10 in the 1980 regular season (I was at that game) and beat us in the NFC Championship game 28-27 via "The Catch" (I was at that game). Bill Walsh later said when they (Niners) beat the Cowboys he knew his team was destined for great things (like 4 SBs). We need to think that way...

I do wish Minnesota would choke away a couple of games.

It would make me smile like a fat lady at a brand new buffet for Favrerere to come to Texas and end his career again, 0-10 against Dallas in the Lone Star State.

I don't know about back to back weeks. My guess is that that would be statistically unlikely.

From what I recall, the odds of beating a team a third time in a season aren't really all that prohibitive, despite the fact that it always gets repeated that they are.

Pittsburgh got Baltimore all three times last season although (GASP/SHOCK/UNBELIEVABLE INCREDULITY FACE) it took a lot of help by the officials.

If a team has to worry about who it plays in the playoffs, it's probably not really superbowl material anyway.

When you play PIT, you play the officials. I don't understand why people have such a hard time coming to terms with that.

The block in the back right in front of the side judge on Harrison's fumble run back in the Superbowl put that debate officially to rest last year, didn't it? The fact that nobody in the media talks about it ever is significant, too, but that's another topic.
