I used to. But it's specifically tea.
It's large amounts of Caffeine. I used to be on the raod all the time. Airport to airport and all I did was drink Cokes and Mt. Dew. It had loads of caffeine. So when they first looked at the stone they told me what it was. I haven't touched caffeine in 15 years.
Also, the Dr. told me that most anything that is caramel colored is a problem. Don't know why particularly but that's what he said.
Large amounts of calcium rich foods, Milk, cheese, ice cream (dairy products in general) can do it as well but the Dr. said that if you get the stones from one source it's unlikely you will get it from the other.
Again, not sure why but that's what I've been told. And frankly, if they would have told me that air caused these things, I would have quit breathing. Worst pain I have ever had, and I locked my finger in the door of a '72 Dodge Charger. That's another story.
I have heard areas, like mine, that have large amounts of calcium in the water can be bad for kidney stones as well.
I passed one about a year ago.
Started out having to use the bathroom a few times but was having trouble peeing. Strong urge but minimal output with interrupted flow.
I thought man I am too young to have to start taking flomax and have prostrate problems. (Something my Father in Law complains about all the time, we give him heck when playing cards as he gets up to go to the bathroom and we say...we'll deal you out for 30 minutes while you pee :laugh1: )
So after going through this a few times I go to pee and it was like a cork had been popped as I could go again with normal flow but it burned like hell and later had other problems. Man it burned...like someone dipped a catheter in tobassco sauce and salt then inserted it. :laugh1:
I did not know what the heck was going on. I was lucky enough that it must have been a relatively small stone.
I just know It burned like heck and I had a day or two of slight bleeding. After that I was fine.
And yes I know it was not an STD.:laugh1:
But recently I thought maybe I had another, this time in my kidneys. Before I had no advanced pain until I passed it. This time I would get sharp stabbing pains in one section of my back that was where the kidney was on the right side.
Turns out it must have been a muscle strain or something in my back.
So It sucked passing the stone but all things considered I am either very lucky.
Had no problems except for flow prior to it so I am thankful and I healed up rather quickly and the pain did not last long at all.
