on this day of the Steelers defending their title, I'm reminded how I feel they are one of the worst, if not the worst SB champ of all time. Yes I freely admit Im a bitter Cowboy fan/Steeler hater but I think it is an objective opinion nontheless. Here are some other candidates:

80 Raiders
02 Buccaneers
70 Colts
68 Jets
87 Commanders
00 Ravens

for me its between 05 Steelers and 80 Raiders for the worst.

thoughts?

the ravens offense was the worst for a sb champ ever, but they are hardly the worst ever nor are the 02 bucs

05 Steelers
can you imagine what the '92,'93,'94, or '95 Cowboys would've done to the '05 Steelers? Would've been like 52-17

05 steelers were far and away the worst. Roethlismotorcyclecrashberger had a horrible game as well. I still can't believe they won that game.

I don't think you are giving the Steelers enough credit. They didn't look very good against Seattle but they beat the Colts in Indy and clobbered the Broncos in Denver and both of them were pretty clearly (to me anyway) much better than the Seahawks. Also, if Rothelisberger had been healthy all year they would have been third seed at worst, possibly second, instead of the last wildcard. Worst SB champ ever was probably the 00 Ravens, IMO.

The worst regular season record to win a Super Bowl was the 88 49ers, 10-6, although I think Montana was injured a significant chunk of that year.

I really cant comment pre-1975 because I didnt see those teams (or if I did dont remember them)...since 1975 though I've seen them all..

I'd have to say 87 Skins, 2000 Ravens and 2001 Patriots were the weakest super bowl champs I've seen...last years Steelers team didnt deserve to win the game but they were as so-so a team for the year as those other 3 I listed...and if your going to penalize them for the super bowl win, you kinda have to do the same for the Skins and Pats as well and niether of those teams should have even made the Super Bowl

You forgot they beat Cincy on the road, or to put it - they beat the #1, #2 and #3 teams to get to the Superbowl...all on the road.

However in the Superbowl they were outplayed, had Stevens not left his hands in the hotel room and the refs called the game properly odds are the Seahawks would be the SB champs.

BTW - Welcome to CZ, hope you enjoy your stay

Commanders strike bowl. No doubt. Can't even put an asterix by that one.

I would say '68 Jets (I hate the drunkard) and the Ravens. I also happen to hate Art Modell for the way/reason he moved the Browns, but their offense is the reason I think they were a joke. Dilfer a SB quarterback? How the &@^#!!!

If Palmer was in for more than one play that game would have turned out differently.

2005 Pittsburgh Steelers - no question about it.

The refs might should of just slapped a Steeler logo on their jersey, and the outcome would be much clearer to those who actually believed they "won" that game.

I gotta agree with you for the most part. Although I won't say the Ravens were the worst because the defense was sooo dominant. The offense wasn't good but it wasn't bad either, it was just boring. I think that Patriots team was a little shakey.

2005 Steelers.. ive said it before and ill say it again.. they were the last freaking wild card to make the playoffs.. they won their first game because the opposing team's best player, their QB, got hurt on the first play.. which just happened to be a long touchdown pass.. and the Super Bowl? please.. I have never been one to blame a loss on the officials, not even that 1994 NFC Championship game and the infamous Deion pass interference.. but that Steeler win last year was a gift from the refs.. it was beyond ridiculous.. people talk about the pushoff on the TD, the Big Ben TD, and the Hasselbeck block, and all those were crap calls.. but the the one that really doomed Seattle was the phantom holding call that made a 1st and Goal from the Pitt one into a 3rd and forever from beyond field goal range.. Seattle would have taken the lead and the momentum, instead it went the other way..

05 Steelers without a doubt. That season was gift wrapped perfectly for them. The Indy game was a game that if they played that game 10 times Indy would win 9 of them. The Dungy thing deflated them and the Steelers were the beneficiary of that.

The Bronco game is a game where the Broncos played one of there worst games of the season.

And the Seattle game speaks for itself...Never have I seen a game where the officials were so inept.

Not to mention if Indy's idiot kicker hadn't choked.... wait a minute. He's on our side now. Never mind.
