Would Dunbar Make a Great Slot Receiver?

I think Dunbar as so much talent he is fast and a nightmare matchup for linebackers. I know he has had some bad injuries but I got tag tell ya when he gets his hands on the ball he is hard to tackle and just looks so fast.

Realistically the running back log jam will limit his touches, could this be an option maybe occasionally putting him and Beasley at the same time maybe in 4 wide sets or him and Elliott in backfield at the same time with him either motioning out to the receiver position or just him and Elliott both running patterns to create mismatches.

Just some outside the box thinking what do you guys think. Might be a great way to get more speed on the field

I would love to see him run a wheel route with a linebacker trying to stay with him or setting up to screens one on each side him and Elliott let defence's try to figure that out

I don't believe he would.

Dunbar is really great against prevent defenses, but I hate seeing him split out wide because it doesn't ever seem to ever have and end result better than him coming out of the backfield.

But the problem with Dunbar is that teams now know he's not going to carry the ball, so what use is having him in the backfield on regular down and distance plays?

I don't recall seeing him split out maybe I just never noticed. Maybe we should give him a carry or 2 his speed has got to be good for something. Is there somewhere where you could see him worked in to give us another wrinkle maybe some jet sweeps ?

He was split out more snaps than he was in the backfield against the Giants.

I realise that in the final drive my response to netgrasse I was talking more about games from the past before he got injured. I just think their has got to be a way to take advantage of his skill set while creating mismatches. I just feel if this guy was in NE he would be such a weapon

They did what you want in the most recent game. Who cares about last year?

Ok we can look at that then!

He made a catch and good run after ( to bad he chose a bad time to waste time on the clock and not get out of bounds ) but I am asking do you think he should be more involved in the gameplan and not just until a final drive scenario. He IMO has the ability to create mismatches that's all I'm asking

This is true..

but to me you have to try.

Playing forces matchups..

He was having success...

if he's healthy..

they should go back to it.

But DAK has so many things to deal with it maybe overload.

Romo had the better feel.

We'll see.

After how he played before the injury last year, I thought he would be dangerous this year. Maybe not a ton of touches, but a homerun threat whenever he got the ball. While the rest of the offense is at full strength (minus Romo, of course), there's a lot for a defense to account for. I guess I don't see why he can't be what Sproles was when the Saints were an offensive juggernaut.

Yes, probably. Will we do that? Maybe once or twice. If it works it'll be phased out.

Could he be a poor man's Randall Cobb via a combination lining up in the slot to catch passes, being targeted for 3-4 passes per game coming out the backfield, and running the ball 2-3 times per game on defenses geared up to stop the pass?

I think the answer is yes.
