Would Dunbar Make a Great Slot Receiver?

Lol ahhh an optimist I see hahahaha
We just have too many weapons. They have a hard time getting our number 1 weapon involved. Dez.

Beasley is in the slot and I don't see them giving Dunbar many of his reps. I think Dunbar caught one at the end of last game and made some moves for a move gain. Will we see that more? I honestly doubt it and I feel I'm one of the "homers" on this site.

The coaching staff has earned some of this pessimism.

I think Dunbar as so much talent he is fast and a nightmare matchup for linebackers. I know he has had some bad injuries but I got tag tell ya when he gets his hands on the ball he is hard to tackle and just looks so fast.

Realistically the running back log jam will limit his touches, could this be an option maybe occasionally putting him and Beasley at the same time maybe in 4 wide sets or him and Elliott in backfield at the same time with him either motioning out to the receiver position or just him and Elliott both running patterns to create mismatches.

Just some outside the box thinking what do you guys think. Might be a great way to get more speed on the field

I would love to see him run a wheel route with a linebacker trying to stay with him or setting up to screens one on each side him and Elliott let defence's try to figure that out

Not sure about the slot but Garrett/Linehan did a horrible job last week the way they handled the NY LB's that were blitzing and attacking the LOS. Dunbar could have gashed them in the flats and behind the LB's in middle all day.

Ok we can look at that then!

He made a catch and good run after ( to bad he chose a bad time to waste time on the clock and not get out of bounds ) but I am asking do you think he should be more involved in the gameplan and not just until a final drive scenario. He IMO has the ability to create mismatches that's all I'm asking
OK, good question.

I don't know. He has to replace somebody. Dak had some accuracy issues and Beasley showed to have a small catch radius. Dunbar is the same height as Beasley.

Some of the decision could depend on the defense that they're facing. It does seem that he could cause matchup issues.

Sadly they might need to consider not playing Witten 100% of the snaps and go with some 4 WR sets.

I'm going to say he would be a match up nightmare, I think he would do well. The question should be...Can the coaching staff scheme this role for him? After seeing Dez run 26 go routes out of 44 pass plays Sunday, I'd say the answer is no!

Maybe. How good is his route running(is his tree limited)? Catching over the middle? Can he take hits?

I think for certain plays he can be a nightmare, especially if we play against a team that struggles with speed.

Hard to say since this isn't an imaginative offense. I can only wonder how much better Dez would be in an offense designed to get the ball in his hands. I also wonder how other offenses would use a tall TE with great hands in the rz. The rookie RB is running into the butts of the OL and this OC cannot figure out a way to get him out in space? Think other OC's could? I do.

While other OC's are playing chess, Linehan is playing checkers.

How much you want to bet Garrett has something to do with that? :muttley:

can we put the mis matches and match up nightmares to rest. These coaches have not clue what that is. They will never know what it is. so quit speculating about mismatches and match up nightmares, at least when talking about the Cowboys.
