Would love to have all of your opinions on something

I am a real estate appraiser and not only work for myself but also QC appraisal reports from all over the country for Fannie Mae. I work from home so my work clothes consist of shorts, flip flops, t shirts and a Packers or NY Mets hat. Take a nap when I need one, run an errand without having to worry about the time, or meet a buddy for lunch without looking at the clock. It is a pretty good gig-Not sure what I would trade it for. Don't enjoy the corporate environment as I did that for two years-

I also enjoy a good deal of the benefits many have already spoken about. I don't know what you are looking for with this information. I see you must have a real purpose as you have said you would PM some zoners about it. I would just like to add that although it isn't a benefit, I do really appreciate the respect and trust of my superiors and that makes a difference for me in a job.

The fact of the matter is there is not near enough financial planning available for anyone. Companies offer a 401k and those are great, but they leave so much information out that you could use to make more money.

Maternity leave at my company is 6 weeks at full pay for regular birth or 8 weeks for a c-section.

Besides the normal perks, we get 40% off retail on any item our company sells. Plenty of pto and tuition reimbursement. Also get the opportunity to work at huge events like the world series, final four, superbowl etc. And if you work that a lot of times they give tickets to the staff to go watch the game. We can pick one sports event a year and the company will get tickets for you. Assuming its aregular season game. Also get a discount on your cell phone plan.

That's pretty sweet. Have you used that to go to anything?

I live about 10 mins from where I currently work. On my hour lunch break, I drive home, get something to eat, and lay down for 15 mins. I really do feel refreshed for the rest of the afternoon and don't have that 2:30 feeling.

Yup, I'm a big fan of just taking 15-20 minutes midday to just meditate or do breathing exercises. It helps and just keeps everything in balance.

Paid vacation and company trips are always fun. More vacation than most places. Maybe even some work from home tasks to add more vacation if complete vacation isn't possible.

My brother works for a major financial software company and he gets to work from home. I think the rule is that he has to live within a 2 hour drive from a major airport, but I think it's calculated by mileage (120 miles) than actual time with traffic. So he and my sister live north of Atlanta.

For me, this would be ideal because I could move to a few certain locations and try out living there for a year and see what I think. If I don't like it, then I can move until I find an ideal spot, although I do like living in Orlando.

That and being able to work when I want to and avoid getting burned out. They keep saying in about 25 years, coming to a work office will seem archaic. Hopefully that's true, only that it happens quicker :)

Outside of the normal benefits your company provides, (Medical, dental, 401K and vacation) do they provide any other benefits that you take advantage of? If not what kinds of benefits would you like them to offer?

Thanks in advance.

We get free meals and soda/ juice. We also get Ten free nights at any of our resorts world wide with 50% off food and beverages. Also discounts on products from mints to bedding. I think that's everything. :) Oh and free dry cleaning...

Technology has afforded us the opportunity to do this. I have a couple offices but I prefer to do any work I have to do at home or travel to someone's site. I like to start companies myself from scratch with an idea, and launch it as a home based business at first to see if it would be workable from remote locations. Actually, starting business' is like a hobby for me anyway. I love building something from a complete idea to something great. That's the genesis of this thread actually.

I work for one of the largest tech companies in the world, so they pretty much offer all the perks a company can offer and many of which are listed in this thread. 401k, bonus, lots of PTO, good salary, employee discounts, etc. Insurance is so-so, but I'm not gonna cry about it, since I'm happy to have it.

However, the best perk I have is my ability to work remote. I only go to the office just to show my face, but generally, I'm no longer required to work in the office.

And many times because I can work remote, I will travel out of town and work from wherever I am. As long as I have an internet connection, I can connect to the network and put in a few hours.

The only perk I don't have, which I wish I had was cashing out the PTO at the end of the year. My old job had it, but this one doesn't. That aside, I've got a pretty good gig.

Are you in the IT field?

I'm a Technical Writer. I write the stuff nobody reads, but if it isn't there, all hell breaks loose. lol

I work for a Community College so the best benefits we get outside the normal stuff if free tuition for my family. I still have to pay for books and fees but the tuition is free. Can't beat that. Plus I'm off for two paid weeks during Christmas that doesn't come out of my regular time off.
