secondary and linebackers look like this:

Safeties: Jones and Ramsey (pick 4)

CB's: Scandrick, Carr (yes i know carr)

linebackers: Lee, McClain, Church

Church can make tackles (or use to). He isn't fast for a safety but has good speed for a linebacker. He is almost 220lbs which is ok size for a 4-3 linebacker. Church is better when he is close to the line.

Last year church didn't have any pass defenses, no int's and only had one force fumble. But he did have 117 tackles

Worth a shot. He should be playing to justify a spot on the 53 regardless.

Sounds like the same asinine idea of moving Roy Williams.

Yep. These "Frankenstein-type" moves hardly ever work.

In addition the base defense is the "nickel" with only 2 linebackers. That defense was used more than the "4-3". Linebacker isn't the big problem with the defense it's the line and the secondary.

it could work, this team just doesn't have the kind of creative coaches to pull it off.

I said it back in the year we first returned to a 43 scheme (under Kiffin).

Church is a little slow and plodding for a safety but has very good speed and change of direction for an OLB.

It may be too late now but I think he would have been a pretty good WOLB in our defense.

He'd work well there in nickle and dime. But you've got Jones locked on the TE in that scenario, so he's a bit redundant

I did this on madden and played a hybrid 4 2 5 Defense with Churching being a rover/LB close to LOS Covering TE and RBs he was great at it.

What did Parcels say about it...he's a biscuit away from a LBer.....
But it doesn't mean he will play well there....Church may be cut and save 4.5 mil on cap space if they draft a S somewhere.

Church isn't going away. He is a "core" player.

Yeah people don't understand that the Cowboys value Church and Carr far more than fans do. They are both great locker room guys and neither is stopping them from signing anyone. Next year may be different. But as of this upcoming season? I think people need to get use to seeing these guys on this team.
