Yeah people don't understand that the Cowboys value Church and Carr far more than fans do. They are both great locker room guys and neither is stopping them from signing anyone. Next year may be different. But as of this upcoming season? I think people need to get use to seeing these guys on this team.

Youre right. Church lead this team in tackles for 2 or 3 years. So let's not act like he's been a total bum. I don't even think Wilcox could hit or cover a 99 1/2 year old lady pushing a cart down an aisle at Walmart. He'd totally take the wrong angle and land in the fruit loops.

Exactly. I don't get the hate Church gets. He's by no mean flawless. He's not by any means irreplaceable. But the guy plays hard and plays good enough for that safety position. He's not the weak link in the secondary.

So right now he would be a pretty decent LBer until he was asked to put on weight to handle the pounding that position would take and would be average at best. His frame is not very conducive to adding more weight without sacrificing speed and agility.

If I"m Barry Church, and my goal is to make it to the NFL and have a long and productive career, I imagine I'd have given enough thought to my game and my skills that it wouldn't dawn on my going into year 7 of my pro career that I really should have been playing one of the other 10 positions on the football field all along.

I don't dislike church. He isn't a bad player but his salary shows why you have to draft well year after year. Then you keep the great players and replace the poor to good players with a much cheaper option. My biggest issue with church is he is over paid for the talent he has. He can certainly play in this league but his talent level is well below his pay level

"I definitely want to shed some weight so I can go out there and run a little bit faster and do a little bit better in coverage and we'll see what happens," Church said. "This is a huge year for me. I definitely have to produce well for when I go into that next year and get another contract or wherever it takes me from there."
